9/11 Explanatory Essay The attack of 9/11 on the World Trade Center is the largest life losing foreign attack on the American ground. To start off with, 9/11 was a horrific event that happened by a terrorist group. On September 11, 2001, we were attacked by a group of 18 terrorist that day. You will find out what happened that day. What I will review some facts about the North World Trade Center and the South World Trade Center building. Also, you will find out how the people reacted to this event and the families that lost loved ones.
First off, at 8:46am the North World Trade Center was the first building to get hit out of the two buildings. Flight eleven hit the North WTC and hit more toward the top floors. Employees also died that day. One thousand four hundred and two employees that were killed just in tower one. In tower two, six hundred and fourteen employees were also found dead. All in all, three hundred and forty-three first responders were found dead. Plus ninety-eight fire trucks were destroyed that day. Only two hundred and eighty-nine dead bodies were found intact and nineteen thousand eight hundred and fifty eight body parts were found after the attack. Altogether, two thousand eight hundred and nineteen people died just in the North and South WTC.
On September 11, 2001, people were scared, terrified, heartbroken, and speechless that day. It was an event that every American that was alive that day experienced. At first, no one knew it was a terrorist attack but when flight 175 hit everyone knew we were being attacked. So the North WTC got hit first, then the South WTC got hit second. If you didn't hear it, then you heard about it on the radio or from the TV or maybe you were even informed from a phone call. Cries and screams pierced the air. News channels scattered everywhere trying to get the latest updates. When a plane flew in to the first tower it caused a burst of black smoke to fill the air. Chaos instantly spread throughout the country like a wildfire.
The terrorist attacks on 9/11 have caused many debates over the years since they occurred back in 2001. Two American planes were hijacked and ran into the twin tower buildings, another was hijacked and headed for the pentagon, but thankfully never made it. The events that occurred on September, 11, 2001 were among the most catastrophic events in American history. The events of the day were summarized as 19 militants associated with the terror group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out targeted attacks in the United States. Out of the four planes, two of them were flown into the World Trade Center in New York, a third one into the Pentagon in Washington and the fourth one crashing off course into a field. The attacks resulted in the deaths of over 3000 people and the beginning of a soon to come American counter terrorism policy and the subsequent invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Terrorist campaigns were climbing in decades prior to 9/11. A group of terrorists attacked New York’s World Trade Center on February 26, 1993. The aim of this attack was to drive two bomb loaded trucks into the basement of a building to bring down both of the towers of the World Trade Center. The mission was not accomplished, but the attack did kill six people. The organizer of this attack was Ramzi Yousef, whose uncle went on to be the operational commander of the attack at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

One hour and 42 minutes after the crash of the planes both 110 stories towers collapsed resulting fire and the collapsing and damage to the other towers. Including the seven world trade center tower which has 47 stories.
Nearly the whole country watched in horror on the morning of September 11, 2001. As the planes crashed and the towers burned, many thought it simply wasn’t true. They believed that it was impossible that someone could hate America that much. It was true, and it left lasting effects on Americans everywhere. Al-Qaeda had carried out a plan so horrific that it killed nearly three thousand people.
