The Lost Letters of Pergamum The captivating novel, the Lost Letters of Pergamum is written by Bruce W. Longenecker. This historical fiction novel is written about a fictional benefactor of the cities Caesarea and Tyre, by the name of Antipus, and his companion Luke, writer of the book Luke, and Acts. Longenecker wrote this to enlighten his readers about the culture of the first century church. The story goes between the exchange of letters written between Antipus and Luke.

The first scene where the men bond with Luke is when Luke gets into a fight with Dragline. Even though Luke is outweighed by Dragline ability, that did not stop him from fighting and because of that, Luke earns the prisoners respect.

There are many reasons that prove why McCandless does not meet the characteristics of a hero and there is many other people who do meet the criteria of a hero. My idea of a hero is a someone who takes on large tasks and shows great bravery in his/her character.

In Laura Bennett’s essay, “Against Antiheroes” Bennett exemplifies the common trend of anti heroism, in popular mainstream TV shows and movies. She states that an anti hero is a protagonist that we all love, but is lacking heroic qualities. An anti hero, however, is a typical person all people are, with each one having skeletons hidden in their closets. The most quintessential character cannot exist, due to the abstract of different personalities and various life situations and that is how we see so many antiheroes every time we watch something new. The anti hero character is overused in modern TV shows and films.

The question that this arises is whether or not he should be considered an anti-hero.
