He states that he used McCandless from time to time on his grain elevator and from his memories views him as participating, smart, and determined.

Chris gets all of his college funds and donates them to the Oxfam organization, which is an organization that helps stop poverty and hunger in the United States. When he starts his journey he ceases talking to anyone including his family because he doesn’t want them to stop him and think he is a psychopath. Chris McCandless wants to go on a journey to a trail in Alaska. While hitchhiking to Alaska he ditches all his belongings and his car because of a flash flood.
Krakauer never met Chris personally; therefore, he relies on interviews with people who encountered Chris throughout his travels. He also depends on documents such as letters and postcards that Chris left behind. Krakauer wants to provide an extensive insight into Chris’ story because of the resonance he got after he published his first article about Chris in the Outside magazine. Many people criticize Chris’ behavior being reckless, selfish and they suggested that he might have been mentally ill. Furthermore, people ridiculed his behavior by saying that he should have paid more attention to the Boy Scout’s laws which say that one should always be prepared.

This story is about a young self driven independent college graduate who gave all his money to charity, gave his car away and hitch-hiked his all of over the United States seeking for adventure and his Dream. Chris McCandless abandoned everything he had and left without telling anyone. After two years of his journey, Chris McCandless was found dead in a bus located in Alaska. He had eaten potato seeds which was a big factor on how he died.

In this book there is a man named Chris McCandless who left society and went into the wilderness of Alaska and cut off all contact with the outside world. He wanted to find himself, and become a better person. Some may believe that Chris went into the wild to escape a toxic relationship with his parents, but the real reason he left everything was he wanted to find himself, and he felt as if he could function without everyday things.
Component 1: Writing Analysis Growth Narrative Throughout the semester growth can be seen in my writing from the Into the Wild prep work that demonstrates my starting point to the final Into the Wild Essay that demonstrates my improvement. The prep work was one of the very first assignments of the year and I particularly struggled within the section “Reasoning” and more specifically, “building my language through cause and effect language.” After writing this assignment, I wanted to focus on building a more articulate analysis through my reasoning by using “if/then” statements. My first draft contained the statement, “Krakauer’s repetition of the word “relieved,” indicates how isolation was comforting to McCandless (55).

Weakness proved no obstacle for John Beckey as at age 19, he became the first person to climb the Devil’s Thumb. During the initial attempt, one of Beckey’s companion’s, Fritz Wiessner, sprained his knee, forcing the party to turn around. Determined not to fail, Beckey recruited two other climbers from Seattle who enabled him to trek back to his base camp within a week of Wiessner's injury. The author, Krakauer, reveals this theme through Chris showing solitude, hatred towards society, and the love of nature. The ultimate freedom is revealed through Chris’ solitude.

I think at this point he is already dead with this things written at the start of the book and the rotting smell. I do not think the two parties will trust one another and help report him in fear that the other party killed him. I did not understand why Chris spend all day searching for food while already being really weak.

Chris’ death brought about a large debate as to whether Chris was insane or simply idealistic. Krakauer wrote Into the Wild to prove Chris’ sanity and soundly completes that task by using rhetorical devices to persuade his audience. Throughout the book, Krakauer uses ethos to develop Chris’ credibility by providing examples of people who are similar to him. For example, Krakauer provides multiple examples of people who were very similar to Chris, such as Everett Ruess.
Chris, The Wilderness Hero Chris McCandless was a very heroic young man. In the book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer he demonstrated independence, bravery, and youthfulness. Chris (or as he liked to be called Alexander Supertramp) was a young man who hitchhiked to Alaska to see what living off the wilderness was like. Chris was a hero because he inspired so many with his fearlessness with what he did in his life. Chris was a hero because he was fearless, brave, and independent.
Based on a real story, Into the Wild can make us think from different perspectives about what the main character Christopher McCandless did. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is a dramatic but also remarkable story from a young, newly graduated, college student that escaped for a long wild journey but never came back. As time passes throughout the book, the reader may notice how the main character interacts with society and nature, finally McCandless dies in the wild but even though he was struggling for survival he died happy. Some people never get out of their comfort zone, others are tired of it and retire from their comfort zone to have different experiences in life, some are good enough or some are terrible.
