There were three key suspects in the case, all of which may have had a part in the murders, even though most of the more prominent pieces of evidence of the Grimes Sisters' deaths pointed to Edward Lee Bedwell could have been the murderer. Official police files found in the local newspaper articles have posted that police later questioned a local drifter about the murders. He told the police that he and Benny “beat the girls to death, then dumped their bodies” (Chicago Now). The man later recanted his confession pleading that he just wanted the police to stop questioning him. He was never identified, and the police never formally charged him with any connection to the crimes. Due to what was a confession to the murder, the police the idea …show more content…
The police needed to crack the case, so they arrested Edward Lee Bedwell who worked at one of those all-night restaurants, that the sister had been spotted at according to eyewitnesses. Benny told the police he had picked up some underage girls one night in the restaurant. These might have been underage girls, but no one is certain if the girls were the Grimes sisters (Graczyk 1). As soon as the police had a suspect on their minds a warrant was placed for Bedwell and posted in the newspaper and it later wrote “Bedwell was booked on two charges of murder” (The Deseret News). While being questioned Edward Lee Bedwell’s statement was recorded by the cook county sheriff’s office in which he admitted the girls were killed after a series of drinking around bars in Skid Row. Bedwell then re-enacted the brutal crime in front of a crowd of thousands of bystanders (The Deseret News). Bedwell should have been arrested for the murders after his re-enactment, it’s assumed that everyone has seen a fight before in their lives, whether it’s a first hand experience or on a television screen. With that said anyone can re-enact the beating of two girls, Also, no one truly knew. Although, the staggering amount of evidence behind Bedwell makes it hard to believe that he was the one how abducted and killed the Grimes

The unknown male was arrested for the murder of Alexandria. Aaliyah and Amber were not in the home. It is unknown where there were. There were no adults in the home as well. The reporter had little information and details concerning this allegation.
How does anyone get away with the murders of nearly twenty people? Well for the Cleveland Torso murderer carrying out these intolerable acts just came easy to him. To this day there is still no lead on the supposed killer. However, there were two prime suspects who came into the discussion of who was the killer. Dr. Francis Sweeney and Frank Dolezal were both under suspicion while in authorities hands.
List below what evidence led you to believe each of the 5 other women were innocent. I believe that the other five women are innocent for various reasons. Although Lindsey’s grandfather owns a gun store giving her access to the murder weapon, she only wears clear chapstick so she could not have left the pink lipstick print that was found on the wine glass. Abby is only 4’11” so it is extremely unlikely that she could have been the women who left behind the size 10 heel prints at the scene. Kristen was proven to be present at the Zumba class during the time of death meaning she could not have been the killer.
“Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen” (Deuteronomy 27:25). Johnny Cade should not be cursed for doing what was right, he was never rewarded and never desired to murder Bob Sheldon. He hurt and scared and did what he did out of impulse. Yet I believe as Johnny’s Defense lawyer that he should not be cursed by being jailed because either way a man would have been killed, the Socs were heavily intoxicated, and Johnny was severely beaten in the past by Bob leaving him feared and distraught.
In the confession the murder mentions that “from an early age I knew very strongly the
Watching Ken Burn’s The Central Park 5, a viewer can easily see the vulgarity and vitriol which fueled the case and think, even hope that this sort of treatment of black and Latino American youths would be intolerable in modern America. This documentary chronicles the case, dubbed by the media as the Central Park Jogger, which involved the violent rape of a white female jogger in Central Park on April 19, 1989 and the wrongful conviction of five boys of color. The jogger, a 28-year old investment banker of the Upper East Side was so brutally beaten that she was in a coma for twelve days, and her assault became a huge media spectacle. This case exacerbated racial tensions in a crime-driven, poverty-stricken New York City, and revealed the prejudices
The second suspect was Prince Albert Victor, he was the son of king edward, grandson of queen Victoria, He was suspected of being the ripper because of his illness, but reports show that he couldn't have been in london the time of the murders. The third suspect, was Sic William Gull, he was a physician to queen victoria,he wasn't convicted because of a sheer lack of evidence,he was in his seventies during the murders, and recently suffered a stroke, He was the least suspected,But still a suspect in the jack the ripper casein 1888. The 4th suspect was, Dr, Robert D'Onston, he had a background in medical and chemistry, had a strong interest in
He also admitted to having accomplices in every murder; thus, he gave the police all of their names
After a twelve-hour interrogation, Brenton Butler confessed to the murder of Mary Ann Stephens. A key claim made by the defense attorneys in this case was that this was a false confession, and after reaching a verdict of not guilty, the jury clearly agreed. The factors that led the false confession were laid out in a scene during the documentary. Instead of using the interview to discover the truth, the interrogators specifically sought out a confession from the suspect. They began the interrogation with the presumption that Brenton Butler was guilty.
He had claimed that he was not home when it happened but later confessed that the voices made him do it after investigators found a rifle box in his room. His mother, father, and four younger siblings were found dead, face down, on their beds, with no signs of
The planning of the murder was to kill her and make it look like a person from the outside killed her. When she was killed the next morning her mother Patsy Ramsey called her friends to come into the murder scene. When they came into the house they brought in footprints and a lot of fingerprints. Then the detectives could not find a whole lot of finger prints from the suspect. The father John Benet brought the body up to the living room then moved her again to the
As you are shown in the film, after the identification of Brenton Butler and his so-called testimony to investigators, the police and prosecutors just stopped working on the case. Thus, evidence that would have supported Butler’s innocence and help find the actual killer weren’t discovered until Brenton’s defense attorney, Pat McGuinness did some investigation and research of his own. Thus, flowing from film from the trial to McGuinness’s investigation scenes shows the how he attained the information that he and his partner could present in the courtroom. While the prosecutors only had the one eyewitness, who claimed to have only caught a glimpse of the shooter and gave description that did not even match Butler. The film presents the conclusion that the police did not actually do the work to find the actual killer and if it wasn’t for Pat McGuinness and his partner wanting to find the culprit, it would never actually be solved.
The murder of Jonbenet Ramsey is a really depressing and mysterious at that. The murder was extremely brutal, she had wounds on her face, a cracked skull, duct tape on her mouth, she was tied up, and she had a garrote around her neck. According to the documentary we watched she was hit in the head with a flashlight and then strangled with a garrote. It was expected that she snatched a piece of pineapple from her brother’s bowl in which he hit her with a flashlight because of it, and she was still alive so it was most likely the parents got in on it because they didn’t want to be filed for abuse and jailed so they strangled her to death and put a blanket over her body, breaking a window and adding a ransom note to make it seem like someone broke in.
Alice McKenzie was found murdered and instantly people considered the reappearance of the serial killer. Only through further evidence and knowledge of how Jack worked that police ruled him out for the murder for she was not mutilated or cut in the throat (Jones). The moniker,
