“Columbus and Lindbergh: A Journey Across the Atlantic”
Columbus and Lindbergh we're two wonderful explorers, but who both had different goals in their adventures. Columbus main goal in his adventure was to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia. Lindbergh had sort of a different way of wanting to travel ("Christopher Columbus.") Lindbergh main achievement was to fly across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to Paris ("Lindbergh Flies the Atlantic, 1927." Lindbergh Flies the Atlantic, 1927. N.p., n.d. Web. 28 Oct. 2015.)
Of course two different journeys, but one goal of adventure for Lindbergh and Columbus. I think it’s wonderful their names are in history and will live in American history on and on. Their journeys with

Lindbergh Flies the Atlantic, 1927.) Lindbergh actually finished his journey winning the respect and limelight from many people. Lindbergh inspired many to go on journeys, but not as much as his words did. Here are some of the inspirational quotes said by Lindbergh: “ If I had to choose, I would rather have birds than airplanes.” ~Charles Lindbergh
“Life is like a landscape. You live in the midst of it but can describe it only from the vantage point of distance.”~ Charles Lindbergh
“Real freedom lies in wildness, not in civilization.” ~ Charles Lindbergh
“It is the greatest shot of adrenaline to be doing what you have wanted to do so badly. You almost feel like you could fly without the plane.”~ Charles Lindbergh ("Charles Lindbergh Quotes.")
Columbus also had great inspiration on many. Here are some quotes from
Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh are two men that are forever in the history of America. Even though they have a 400 years of difference they both are great adventurers. They are also very well known around the world. Ever though Christopher Columbus is from Italy he is in American history and Charles Lindbergh is in French history for example “”The President of France pinned the Legion of Honor upon the lapel of his borrowed suit and thousands of messages poured in upon him.” (Ranfranz).
Lindberghs' challenges were simply staying awake. He faces hallucinations of "mirage-like" foggy islands. Lindbergh stayed awake for approximately 55 hours and faced extreme fatigue. Columbus also faced the darkness. Columbus also faced hunger, mutiny and dehydration.
Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh are explorers that have discovered new places and done things that people thought were impossible. Both of these men faced many hardships on their journeys, but their skillsets helped them to pull through the difficult times. There was a major time gap between their travels and many things differed between them and their skills, yet there were also many things that the two had in common. These things helped each of the men to achieve the goal that they were aiming to accomplish. Lindbergh and Columbus had vastly different goals in mind, other than the fact that they both wanted fame and fortune (History.com staff), but some of the challenges that they faced were similar.
“Lindbergh! His name will live in history,” (Lindbergh). There are two reasons this could be true: He is the first person to travel across the Atlantic without stopping or he helped kill his own baby.
Columbus and Lindbergh both have been on amazing and intriguing adventures. Both of these men have faced many challenges during these adventures. Columbus incorporated his sailing skills from previous years of sailing into his adventure to find a route to Asia by sea. Lindbergh used his flying skills he previously learned in life in order to go on his adventure.
Thomas Carlyle once said, “Nothing stops the man with a desire to achieve,”(Achievement Quotes) and this statement rings true for many prodigious people in history, but two of the most notable of them happen to be Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh. Christopher Columbus was the first European to make landfall in the Americas, and Charles Lindbergh completed the first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Columbus used three boats: Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria. Charles took his plane, The Spirit of St. Louis. ( Sterner, C. Douglas) Columbus wished to establish a trade route with Asia, while Lindbergh wished to win a competition.
Despite the disconnection of over 430 years, the preeminent adventures of Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh represent binary segments in the history of exploration. Like other ventures, they obtain analogous characteristics: the bourn of the trek, the stumbling blocks that occurred amidst the exploration, the significant factors that rendered each pursual rewarding or fruitless, and the ultimate outcomes of their excursions. Despite the closeness, the two jaunts possess numerous idiosyncrasies. However, they interconnect exceedingly by their vitality to the progression of the world that we live in.
Earhart and Noonan’s plan was to circle around the globe starting and ending in California, USA. The flight would start on May 21st, 1937, was to last approximately forty days, and they were going to make many stops, zigzagging along the equator to refuel ("The Odd Vanishing Of Amelia Earhart."). They flew in a twin engine lockheed 10-electra plane that carried no more than two passengers at time. This was a high-performance mode of transportation that had been modified to carry one thousand lbs of fuel instead of the regular two hundred (“Amelia Earhart Disappears”). The plane also was equipped to float, in case of a crash, and had a rubber lifeboat for passengers ("Miss Earhart Forced Down At Sea, Howland Isle Fears; Coast Guard Begins Search.").
Zheng He's voyages took place in the Indian Ocean and Christopher Columbus's took place in the Atlantic Ocean. Though their voyages were different they both made a huge impact on the politics, economics and human civilization. The size of fleets, ships and
Flight 2501: On June 23, 1950, Northwest Airlines Flight 2501 was on its way from New York to Minneapolis at the hands of experienced pilot Robert C. Lind, and was carrying 58 passengers. Due to bad weather, when the flight was near Chicago it changed course and turned over Lake Michigan. Around midnight, Lind requested permission to drop altitude from 3500 ft to 2500 ft, without ever specifying a reason. His request was denied, and that was the last communication Flight 2501 ever had.
John Muir wrote how it takes years for trees to grow but only a day to cut them down is like life. Rachel Carson writes how pollution from modern industrial has ruined the balanced of the Earth overtime. In the essay “Where I Lived, and What I Lived For” by Thoreau, he writes about a time where he moved to Walden Pond. Thoreau wrote how he would go a-fishing in the pond and he would drink directly from the pond.
So in May 20, 1927, Lindbergh took flight from Roosevelt field in New York to Le Bourget Field near Paris. The trip in total took around 33 hours and 3,600 miles. Later in his life he invented the first official artificial heart. He married a girl named Anne Morrow, and later in 1931 after they had a baby named Charles Lindbergh who was kidnapped and murdered by Bruno Hauptmann, who was later executed in 1936. Before they found Charles, Al Capone, the famous Italian mobster, offered to help Lindbergh and his wife to help find the baby and bring it to safety.
Introduction Blank sea, no plane, no communication, and no exact location of the Electra. Amelia Earhart was the first American female to fly across the ocean. She and her plane the Electra set flight to the skies. Amelia disappeared unexpectedly during her journey possibly from lack of fuel or engine failure. This is the story about Amelia Earhart’s solo flight across the ocean.
These choices have began to have a greater impact on my life, slowly shaping the person I will become in later years. As can be seen in the later years of Muir’s life, the fact that many of his actions were done with right intentions in mind, displays how these simple decisions and actions can have a dramatic effect on ones life. My way of action and mindfulness of right intentions, much like John Muir’s, stems from my upbringing in the community I was raised in and school I am taught through.
In the year 1519, Spain set sail to be the first ones to circumnavigate the globe. Under the leadership of Ferdinand de Magellan, they were able to accomplish this monumental task by the year 1522, even though Magellan died before they journey was complete. In the article titled “Ferdinand Magellan 's Voyage Round the World, 1519-1522”, we are able to recall the accounts transcribed from the paper-book of a Genoese pilot who wrote detailed accounts about the events that transpired throughout the journey. Around 55 years after Spain’s voyage, the English set out to circumnavigate the globe under the leadership of Sir Francis Drake in the year of 1577. An article titled “Sir Francis Drake 's Famous Voyage Round The World, 1580” was written by Francis Pretty, who was one of Drake 's Gentlemen at arms.
