The first world war was started in 1914 and ended in 1918, this was also the first war ever fought on such a large scale in the history of Man kind .it involved thirty-one nations from five different continent.
The first world war was not caused by any specific event whose nature can be pinpointed and avoided. Instead, an interrelating network of many things led to an environment which caused aggression and allowed it to grow into the tragedy of World War I. At the time, each country’s intense nationalism created an aggressive setting and an underlying desire to go to war and destroy other countries in order to be the best. Militarism and the arms race, fueled by this competition, gave countries the means for mass devastation. In addition, huge alliances with a mixture of smaller and bigger countries had the potential to involve the world’s strongest military powers in a small dispute between obscure countries. This situation all meant the countries created increasingly effective weapons in order to be the best started a war which was further escalated by the
The “Great War” happened in 1914 and lasted until 1918. The war was triggered, because of the assassination of the archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was supposed to receive the throne. Documents 7 and 9 go hand in hand, because it shows the European Alliances. Documents 3,4,5, and 8 show the militarism cause of the war. Lastly, the Documents numbered 1,2, and 6 belong together due to the fact they show the Imperialist Competition.
It’s 1939, Hitler has risen to power wreaking havoc on other countries. This is the start of what is known as WWII. Taking a few steps back is WWI. It all started in 1914 and ended in 1918, this is commonly referred to as the “Great War”. This war dealt with the Triple Alliance, the Triple Entente, the Central Powers, and the Allies. After this war ended on November 11, 1918, leaders from the countries made a treaty called the Treaty of Versailles. After this treaty was made, many things happened and the question in many people 's minds was how did this treaty cause WWII? The Treaty of Versailles helped cause WWII by treating Germany harshly in these three ways: Their army was reduced, they lost territory, and the number one reason is all of the blame Germany got.
World War I ended in 1918 with the victorious Allied powers, and the peace-promising Treaty of Versailles. However, this treaty 's peace did not last long as its unrealistic demands caused strong resentment within the Central powers against the Allied powers. Territorial losses, reparation payments, and inflation all left Europe in economic ruins. The damage and destruction that resulted from World War I paved a clear path that allowed for World War II to occur. It began in 1933 when Adolf Hitler gained power and, with the help of the Nazi Party, turned Germany in a totalitarian dictatorship. Germans ' appeal of Hitler and the Nazi Party in the early 1930s was due to their nationalistic senses, Hitler 's magnetism, as well as the possibility
“European nations began World War 1 with a glamorous vision of war, only to be psychologically shattered by the realities of the trenches. The experience changed the way people referred to the glamour of battle; they treated it no longer as a positive quality but as a dangerous illusion.” –Virginia Postrel. World War 1 was one of the most horrendous, life shifting wars in history that began in Europe and lasted for 4 years (1914 - 1918) besides affecting 9 million lives. The world was so destructive due to the intensity of the fighting and the deadly weapons. It was the first war in history to involve too many countries, and as a result, World War 1 became known as the Great War. In my opinion, nationalism wasn’t the main cause of the war.
World War I was the bar fight of all bar fights and was expected to end quickly. Unfortunately, the treacherous battle field held soldier's longer than expected. At first, Europe had been flourishing with colonies worldwide and had developed in technology greatly. Alliances had been put in place in order to balance power and prevent a world war to ever happen. Alas, the conflict between Austria-Hungary and Serbia was not prevented at all. The conflict was what pushed forward the war and caused countries to call for more alliances. This had gotten more and more nations involved in what started as a small conflict to a war. Countries started declaring war on eachother until it was, what some might call, a bar fight. Although
World War II was a global war that covering every continent and most countries in the world. Starting in 1939 and continues until the end in 1945, although there were a conflicts began earlier.
World War 1 was an atrocious war that caused millions of deaths and hundreds of billions of dollars in reparations. World War 1 lasted from 1914 to 1919 and rudimentarily, was the fight between the Allied powers and the Central powers. The Allied powers consisted of France, Great Britain, Russia, and Belgium while the Central powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire. All countries had some participation and damage done throughout World War 1, and the countries who started the war may be obscure. However, there are some countries that can especially be picked out for their contribution and cause for the war. Of course, every country who participated in the war had some sort of reason. Although it wasn’t a single country
The wars were different partly because of progress in technology. World War 1 began when the world still had it’s rear end grounded in Nineteenth Century culture and technology. It happened 49 years after the American Civil War, but not in a lot had changed since then. Lots of new technology had been invented, but nobody had learned how to use it in practice. By
World War 1 was the First World War. Men from all over the world fought for the country we live in today in this society. For the people who had fought for this country are remembered as the heroes of today. WW1 was a tough time for troops and families.
In a newspaper two years before the war had even begun, the founder of an Serbian extremist group called the black hand says that the only way for Serbia to gain freedom and honor is threw war (Document 3). The newspaper states “This war must bring out the eternal freedom of Serbia.” Not only did Serbia want freedom from Austria-Hungary but hornor as well. Thinking that the war was the only way to gain the freedom and honor they wanted, Serbia looked to their only option for a band of extremists to kill the prince of Austria-Hungary. This is a extremely significant part of why World War I started because of an assassination of a leader in Austria-Hungary country. Just to add on to even more causes of this specific war. There is one final reason that World War I had
nationalism is the main cause. Many nations thought they were better than the others, which can and did lead to many problems. It could anger the other nations to fight or it could influence the nation with a high source of nationalism to do irrational things. In the background essay of the documents packet, it states that in the area of southeastern Europe known as the Balkans, the spirit of nationalism ran high which caused problems. Ethnic groups revolted and the Serbian nationalism group called the Black Hand was the trigger which fired off war. They planned to assassinate the Archduke of Austria when he came to visit Serbia, hoping that would lead to a rebellion that would lead to Serbian independence. Just the opposite happened. When they assassinated the archduke and his wife, more than a rebellion started. Things got out of control and soon all of Europe was at war. This caused World War
Around August 1939 the Second World War had started in Europe. The war started off with plans of Germany invading Poland. At the beginning times, the war was more focused around Europe. In 1941, America got involved with Japan and everything kept spreading. Many countries where involved in this war as well, splitting everyone into two groups, the axis powers and the allies. Germany was the main “dictator” invading many other surrounding countries like France, Poland, Norway, etc. Germany formed the axis powers along with Italy and Japan. The axis powers’ goal for each country was similar but yet different. Germany wanted to pretty much take over Europe. Japan wanted demolition of colonial powers and Italy wanted to re-create the Roman Empire. The remaining countries involved in the war formed the allies. The goal of the allies was to stop all this
The many different causes of World War 1 were quite brief with excruciating fatalities. There were many innocent people who were just living a regular life didn’t know what was about to hit them. People like to say that there were five different causes of World war 1. Those causes were nationalism, imperialism, militarism, alliancism, and assassination. There were a variety of different wars between the British, Europe, United States, etc. Peace and liberty during this time of war was not an option. World war 1 changed the world we live in today and will forever be one of the deadliest, most fierce wars in all of history.
