In this paper, an experiment was performed to evaluate a small portion of people in each grade level and measure the level of risk they have for becoming depressed. Showing the trends of the amount of depression symptoms shown and the different common answers that were listed when the students took the test. There is a trend between the grades and how many kids are at a higher risk of being depressed. This essay will also show the methods that were used to collect the information and the different tools/ways used to record all the information. There will also be tables and/or graphs used to represent the data that has been collected.
Evidence A. The need for mental health
The idea that depression is caused by a lack of brain serotonin may not only back evidence to back it up, but it could also reduce stigma associated with mental illness. Studies such as that conducted by R. E. Kendell (2014) have time and again shown that there is a strong correlation between how mental illness is perceived in a social environment and individual’s willingness to seek help. By explaining the reasons for depression with biological concepts such as a lack of serotonin, people may be more inclined to respect mental illnesses such as depression on the same level as a physical illness. In fact, this distinction between “physical” and “mental” illness is likely to damage patients in the long run by lowering their self-esteem significantly
Task 1 Mental Disorders= is whereby an individual has a mental condition which leads to impairment of the mind and the functioning of that person. This can have an effect on the person’s emotion and personality. Depression Depression is an illness which involves the body, thoughts and mood; this can have an effect on normal functioning daily. In 2013, a 12-year-old girl ended her life by jumping off of a factory after being bullied on social media for months. She was threatened with words such as “if you haven’t killed yourself yet, would you please just die,” and she had searched on the internet “how many Advil do you need to take to die.” It is at times like this that the government should monitor the conversation on social media or even personal account. When government detects an individual searching for ways of suicides through search engine, it should pay a closer attention to his/her online behavior and reach out to organizations that are capable to help him/her when sensing the urgency of actions. Charles Barber’s article, “The Medicated Americans: Antidepressants Prescriptions on the Rise,” focuses on the views of “depression” and “Depression” that are caused by antidepressants like Prozac, Paxil, and Norpramin. Barber talks about how people do not understand the differences of depression which causes misdiagnoses and misunderstanding of the two. One meaning of “Depression” is how it is used to do describe a serious medical condition and the other meaning a broad terming meaning feeling down, bummed out, or anything along those lines. A study conducted by the New England Research Institution showed that 43 percent of people who have been prescribed antidepressants did not have any diagnosis of depression or any mental health conditions.
Depression is a real illness and help is available. With proper diagnosis and treatment, the vast majority of people with depression will overcome it. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression, a first step is to see your family physician or psychiatrist. Talk about your concerns and request a thorough evaluation. Measurement and Instrument The main dependent variables in the study will be the depressive symptoms (continuous dependent variable) and cognitive status. Social media is a great tool for society; it was reported in Penard’s article that it makes people happier and also allows for global communication and connection. However, social media leads to stress and anxiety because of the constant worry for getting a notification or creating the perfect image on social media. Social media is a platform for social interactions that can increase happiness but it also can cause depression and anxiety from social media interaction. Each source is valid and invalid in its own unique way.
Background Information Client X is a twenty-one year old student, middle-high class white women who seemed discouraged and frustrated when she first arrived. She attends university and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Client X has a boyfriend, some close friends and lots of family, however, she still reports experiencing lots of loneliness. She believes she feels overwhelmed and frustrated with constantly being with a few people and reports high anxiety and depressive symptoms when there is no one to hang out with or talk to. She disclosed that she cries multiple times a day, and sometimes can not attend her classes or complete daily tasks because of crying.
