Every child has someone that they idolize and cherish. Whether it be a relative or just a friendly adult, these childhood heroes can shape a person’s sense of identity. An excellent portrayal of this concept can be found in Truman Capote’s fictional short story, “A Christmas Memory.” In this short story, “Buddy,” the main character, has his sense of identity shaped by his childhood hero, which is his cousin whom he spends most of his time with. Buddy’s childhood hero shaped his sense of identity through the annual tradition and spending time together with her. To begin with, Buddy’s sense of identity is shaped through the tradition of baking fruitcakes every year at the beginning of winter with his cousin.

The play, “A Christmas Carol,” adapted by Israel Horovitz from Charles Dickens’ tale is about a selfish, old miser named Ebenezer Scrooge that encounters visitations from spirits. The locations the spirits take him to display powerful messages that impact the transformation in his character eventually. Towards the end, Scrooge becomes a more kinder, generous person. “A Christmas Carol” evidently shows that even when life is at its most difficult, there are always ways to find peace and happiness. The beginning of the story occurs the day before Christmas (December 24) in Bob Cratchit, Scrooge’s clerk, and Ebenezer Scrooge’s office in London, England.
I visit my grandparents and cousins over Christmas break also. Spending time with family and friends is really important to me. Unlike Scrooge, I care for my loved ones. In A Christmas Carol, Scrooge views himself going to a Christmas party hosted by his old boss, Mr. Fezziwig. “In they all came, one after another; some shyly, some boldly, some gracefully, some awkwardly, some pushing, some pulling; in they all came, anyhow and everyhow” (Dickens 41).

In December we have a posada which is celebrating Jesus’ birthday it’s either a week or just a day. So later on in that month we start to ask for donations for food that we use to make burritos. The day before christmas we wake up early in the morning to prepare everything to make the burritos. We also give our time to volunteer at the food bank and help pack the food, we also donate food to them as well. My personal favorite is volunteering at the animal shelter just being with all the dogs and cats is just amazing.
Feast of First fruits This feast begins on the day after the weekly Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which would be the first day of the week, or Sunday. It is done as an expression of gratitude to God for His provision in the harvest. In this feast a sheaf of the first fruits of the barley harvest is waved before the Lord. “The LORD said to Moses, ‘Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath” Lev 23: 9-11 NIV Christ fulfilled the feast of first fruits by being the first fruit of the resurrection – he was raised from the dead ‘on the day after the Sabbath’ which is Sunday.

This holiday brings family members together, in my case I usually get to see my mom each year. The thing we must not forget is that Christmas is not about receiving, nor about giving in return, it’s about doing a little extra something for someone without an exchange, it’s about coming together as a family. Every year on December 25, I wake up and feel Special, for having a family that loves and cares for me, for waking up in the morning and seeing myriad presents under the Christmas tree, for getting to spend another Christmas day sharing with friends and family and getting to say Merry
After New Years ends, Mexican families still celebrate what the call El dia de los Magos, which they celebrate on January 6th. Families will get to gather to eat and celebrate, What they eat is a sweet bread and inside that sweet bread is a little doll baby Jesus. The person who finds it will have to host a fiesta, which the person has to do, is a prayer until the January 24th. Then when they make wishes, is like how we use Santa Clause, but they have the 3 Wiseman that came to Mary and Joseph, which are named Gaspar, Melchor, and Baltasar, so they would come and bring them presents. So the Mexican children come to a gathering with family at Alameda Park, and they write their letter to the 3 Wiseman, blow up the balloon and then let go and
It is a period of time dedicated to loved ones who have passed away. But unlike the name suggests, it lasts more than just one day. The holiday begins on October 31st and lasts until November 2nd.
