They could not lie down or sit because there is not enough room. This technically would be a choice because they probably would all sitting if they could. However, the choice is already made for them since there is not enough room to actually sit somewhere.
They have the choice to escape and die or stay and die, of course they do not know that most of them would die if they were to stay. Taking in the factor that they did not know what was ahead of them, they automatically chose the option that would help them not suffer and die. However, no matter what they chose, most of them ended up dying anyway, it just prolonged the time until their death.

Elie had the decision to give Franek his tooth or not. Unfortunately, he did not really get the choice to give him his tooth or not, because if he did not, his father would be beaten to death. This was his one weakness and Franek knew it. If he wanted to keep the one thing he rightfully had left in the world he would need to give his gold tooth to Franek.

It was a tragedy, a small boy dying, the prisoners would not want to look at it but they were being forced to by the Nazis. Though they could just close their eyes but their brains probably could not help but continue to look, or they could have wanted to pay respects to the dead. Even with this, they were somehow being forced to continue looking at the boy hanging in the gallows, no matter what they
“I decided to give my father lessons in marching “(p.55 Wiesel). Elie decided to do this because he didn’t want to see his father get beaten any more. He also didn’t want his father to get picked for the selection. In the end Elie was forced to give up his crown so the beatings would stop.
Elie's father being alive was something like a crutch for him. Elie's foot had started to swell because it was cold out, and there was discussion about the Red Army approaching, and how the Nazi's would kill off all the injured. Elie, however, had a different mindset,"As for me, I was thinking not about death but about not wanting to be separated from my father." (Wiesel 82). Elie's desire to be with his father and care for him was great, but he would suppress his own pain for his father, which in turn, could've killed Elie.
Elie refuses to accept his father’s gift in the beginning, but soon takes it from his father after his father pleads him to. If Elie and his father’s relationship wasn’t as strong as it was then his father might have never given him the knife and spoon. After this scene in the book, Elie starts to realize what his father is willing to do for him in order to increase his chances of
Elie stood against the dentist and Franek for their dehumanization, and how it affected Franek and the dentist. Elie decides to fight and delay against the both of them for their indifference. Where I came to that conclusion is this line. “What are you going to do sir? I shall remove your gold crown, that's all.
He knows deep down that his father would want him to go on a survive. Looking for ways to stay positive and keep going was an amazing trait that Elie has. This is somewhat similar to the traits in the characters in Anthem. What I also did not mention in that paragraph, was when they went to start a new life. Equality deiced that he wanted his own name.
Family is always there to help us and to get us through rough times. Night by Elie Wiesel took place in 1944 and is an autobiography telling us about Elie 's time in the concentration camps. In the novel, they went to four different camps. Those camps were, Birkenau, which is the reception center for Auschwitz, then to Buna, Gleiwitz, and finally to Buchenwald where they were saved by American troops. By examining the novel Night, we can see that family is the key to survival, which is important because those who do not have family often aren 't able to survive because they don 't have someone pushing them forward and helping them in life.
Eliezer Wiesel loses his confidence in god, family and humankind through the encounters he has from the Nazi death camp. Eliezer loses confidence in god. He battles physically and rationally forever and no more accepts there is a divine being. "Never should I overlook those minutes which killed my god and my spirit and turned my fantasies to dust..."(pg 32). Elie endeavored to spare himself and asks god commonly to bail him and take him out of his hopelessness.
Later, Franek sees Elie's gold crown and demands he give it to him, but Elie refuses so Franek messes with Elie's father until he gives up his crown. During work, Elie catches Idek with a girl and receives whips for spying on
For this reason the Elie wouldn’t have known about the extreme horror that was lying ahead for his entire family. This choice positively impacted the author’s life by not being separated from his father. “Naturally, we refused to be separated” (20). Hypothetically, if Elie left with his sisters, his father would have no motivation to survive by not knowing if his family is
He was able to continuously replenish his weak, old father little by little by making sacrifices such as by giving up his “ration of bread and soup” (110) due to his health and youth. But one aspect that he did not notice was that “every man for himself and . . . each of us lives and dies alone” (110). Elie does not discard his hopes of killing two birds with one stone, until at the end of the novel, when the doctor points out
Elie 's inaction or inability to help his father and his guilt for not doing so helped Elie to shape the person he has become now is because he kept on realizing his stand on the situation on the harsh behavior towards his father. As he starts to live more with his father he became started to realize how important he was to him and how important he is for him. In the book Night, Chapter 7, when Elie and his after were on the cattle car he said"My father had huddled near me, draped in his blanket, shoulders laden with snow. And what if he were dead as well? I called out to him.
This shows how casually that SS officer murdered the children and how surprised Elie was when they did it. Another reason is millions of people died, it 's why the Holocaust is greatly remembered. " ...allowing them to be tortured, slaughtered, gassed, and burned" (Wiesel 68). This stands out because many Jews died so brutally and they couldn 't do anything to stop it. Which is much more important than fire and night.
Hitler was a horrible person for the things he did to the Jews and it shouldn’t be forgotten. Then the entire camp, block after block, filed past the hanged boy and stared at his extinguished eyes, the tongue hanging from his gaping mouth. (page 62 and 63) This is crazy Hitler made young innocent teens and older men stare at the young teen being hanged. Then they had to go back to work like it wasn’t that big of a deal and just acted like nothing really happened.
The decisions people make can affect them in a positive way or a negative way. I believe that Elieʻs choices have both sides. In this book NIGHT by Elie Weisel it was hard to survive as a Jew in these times as the story explains. As a young teen like Elie, he had a lot of peer pressure with Jews and the SS. Elie had it rough with being away from home and separated from his mother and sister.
Bread in Night Bread, you may not think of it, but in the book Night, it becomes crucial through the events. In Night, the word “bread” was used multiple times throughout the book. Now bread is just food, but sometimes, depending on people’s hierarchy of needs, it can be more than food. Bread can be food, a luxury, it can represent normality, friends and family together.
