In the ensuing years, while the negotiations at times showed signs of life, however for the most part expectations still remained low. Failure to achieve this ambitious agenda has undermined the credibility of the multilateral trading system and hurt the least-developed countries. So, what were the reasons for the failure of Doha round ?
The problems behind this collapse stems from a combination of internal complications as well as opposing external political and economic forces. Agriculture was at the center of the controversy when there is division between developed and developing countries on this issue.

Last but not least, there are also some important structural and procedural causes for the failure of the Doha Rounds negotiations. The regulation of international trade and business is one of the most complex sectors of the international law, especially concerning non-tariff trade barriers and domestic competition regulation. Moreover, the process of negotiations has become more and more complex because of the increasing number of members and the participation of many non-governmental organizations.

Internal controls exist so safeguards are in place to protect grant assets, if one individual is responsible that potentially could negate the safeguards set-up to guard against loss from unauthorized use or disposition. 29 CFR 97.20(a) provides that effective control and accountability must be maintained for all grant cash, real and personal property, and other assets. Grantees must adequately safeguard all such property and must ensure that it is used solely for authorized purposes.
To do this, we also need to look at international trade in the context of economic development as a whole. This is achieved by focusing not only on how international trade helped recovery, but also looking at how other factors contributed to Western Europe’s recovery from war and depression. The GATT has played a critical role in encouraging nations, particularly in Western Europe, to trade. The GATT freed Europe’s regional and international trade from tariffs, quotas and other forms of trade barriers, and has often been hailed as a key factor in stimulating the post-war economic recovery, and preventing a return to the catastrophe of the interwar period. Despite various weaknesses, the GATT succeeded in establishing commitments among major countries that would help create a stable environment for world trade that fostered the post-war rise in trade and

The Controversy on Agricultures Mankind has gone through numerous changes that have defined life today. Humans have developed technology and discovered resources that are essential to ones everyday life. Some of the changes weren’t for pleasure but vital to survive on Earth. These changes may not benefit humans but allow us to survive: agriculture. Jared Diamond explains in the article “The worst mistake in the history of the Human Race” stating that “…the adoption of agriculture, supposedly our most decisive step toward a better life, was in many ways a catastrophe from which we have never recovered.”
