About 5.7 million Americans or 2.6 of the U.S population. Bipolar disorder is genetic it runs through many families. Bipolar disorder can be treated with medication. Many people tend to want to commit suicide with this disorder. There is no specific cause for this disorder or just one certain thing. It can come from genetics, biological, or environmental. In Shakespeare play Macbeth, Macbeth shows many signs of bipolar disorder. This paper will show the symptoms, causes, and cures of this disorder. This will also show an effective treatment plan that would have changed Macbeth’s life for the better. Macbeth’s death was fate not free will.

ECT seems to cause changes in brain chemistry that can reverse symptoms of certain mental illnesses. ECT may be an option for bipolar treatment if one don't get better with medications, can't take antidepressants for many health reasons such as pregnancy or are at high risk of suicide.

Why Macbeth had bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder can often ruin one’s life. This is shown in the tragedy of Macbeth. I believe Macbeth shows many signs of a bipolar disorder, one of the worst disorders. It causes one’s mind to change, to have bad mood swings to think the need everything or deserve it. Because of Macbeth’s mental disorder he devised his own demise. Macbeth shows signs when he shows signs of anxiety and violence. When he can’t make up his mind on what he wants to do. When he gets over ambitious about wanting to be the king. That is a sign of bipolar disorder Macbeth shows a lot of signs that he has the disorder in the story.
He even starts to hallucinate he thinks he sees Banquo’s ghost. Macbeth gets extremely violent worse than before; he murders Macduff’s family. One would pick ECT, it is electric currents passed through ones brain. ECT will cause changes in the brain that will reverse symptoms of certain mental illness.
ECT would have been the treatment to save Macbeths life. Macbeth would go in for his treatments three times a week. Had Macbeth had ECT treatment before all of his dumb actions happened he would not have made those decisions? In fact Macbeth would have made the right decisions making his life totally different.
Fate vs Free will
One believes fate was the cause of Macbeth’s death. This disorder caused Macbeths death. If it wasn’t for this terrible disorder Macbeth would never wanted power so bad. He would have been patient and waited for his time. The reason Macbeths death was fate is because it was out of Macbeths control he couldn’t help his disorder.
