The risks are even higher when you’re alone. Many people who go camping take many precautions, such as tents, food, food preservers ( such as a cooler ), spare clothes, lighting fluid/ a lighter, etc.. Some dangers of going into the wilderness include: poisonous greenery, such as poison ivy, stinging nettles, wild parsnip, lyme disease carried by ticks that live on deer, wild animals, the weather, and by far much more. According to MkCapen1 from eNotes.com ( 2010 ), McCandless only brought a rifle, ammunition, rice, a small stove, books, and a few misc. others, and while he brought a map, he forgot it in the truck of the man who drove him there. He brought nothing to change into if his clothes are torn, no soap to wash with, nothing to help build a shelter that would last longer than a tent, and so on.

After years of waiting and preparing we started on the journey to the west. We made our way to Independence, Missouri to go on the Oregon Trail which was laid by traders and trapers. During my last year of high school there is an additional project I must complete, but unlike most of the projects I’ve done at New Tech, this one must be completed on my own. Doing a senior project helps develop independence and creativity, and helps students like me explore any variety of topics that they wish they knew more about. For my senior project, I am going to go on a backpacking trip. I want to gain a connection to nature and sustain myself in a way that I can’t do here in the frontcountry. Until a few years ago, I had never gone on a backpacking trip or overnight.
Asides from his clothing, the man had two bags that were filled with bottles. The man seemed furious that it was raining and kept on mumbling things to himself. I was observing the man closely because I had seen him in the area before. The rain became harder and harder and as it did, the man kept moving back to avoid getting wetter. The rain continued to pour down harder for around 10 minutes and as soon it stopped the man began to make his way out of the plaza.

Stepping foot on the campus wasn’t even the beginning, taking the school bus in the morning is where the first taste of being a freshmen and actually starting and being an high school student. I peered out the window as I took off my raincoat. The rain pitter pattered against the pavement softly, creating a lulling sound.
