In this memoir, Elie Wiesel uses imagery in order to develop the presence of animal-like behavior on people when they are being dehumanized. At this point of the story, Elie and the other prisoners are in a wagon traveling to a different concentration camp, and they are trying to survive in inhuman conditions. To begin, Wiesel describes, “We were given bread… We threw ourselves on it… Someone had the idea of quenching his thirst by eating snow.”
Dehumanization Causing Events in Night Over the course of Eliezer’s holocaust experience in the novel Night, the Jews are gradually reduced to little more that “things” which were a nuisance to Nazis. This process was called dehumanization. Three examples of events that occurred which contributed to the dehumanization of Eliezer, his father, and his fellow Jews are: people were divided both mentally and physically, those who could not work or who showed weakness were killed, and public executions were held.
Inhumane In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, the theme man's inhumanity man relates to cruelty by calling them names, treating them horribly, and making them look the same. Even the Jews in the same barracks fight each other for food, and some people suffocate because they are laying on top of each other. In this quote “Faster you swine”(Wiesel 91). This quote shows the reader how the Nazis treated the Jews when they are marching to Gleiwitz.
Elie Wiesel faced a lot of cruelty and a lot of inhumanity from man throughout his time in the concentration camps from other prisoners and the Nazis. In the memoir, Night by Elie Wiesel, cruelty and the theme of man’s inhumanity to man appears throughout the whole story and throughout Elie 's time within the concentration camps, in that it gives us examples of how the Nazis didn’t feed them enough, beat them, stripped them of their identities, made them run long distances, and how the Jew’s would be cruel to each other when they would take food from one another and beat others. One of the first examples of cruelty is from the Nazis towards Elie. The author wrote “Then I was aware of nothing but the strokes of the whip.
One of Wiesel 's strengths in Night is to show the full face of dehumanization. It is something that the Nazis perpetrated against the people they imprisoned. The tattooing of numbers on the prisoners, something that Eleizer notes, is of extreme importance. A- 7713 is by definition an example of dehumanization because it robs the humanity of the individual. The abuses that the Nazis perpetrate on their prisoners is another example of dehumanization.
No mercy In the book, Night, Elie wiesel tells the story of his many months in the concentration camps. At the young age of fifteen were he saw, his fellow jews get burned alive, shot, beaten, Starved and even hung. There was so much physical pain that was caused and some of it could be fixed over time. But the one thing that can 't be fixed is the emotional damage him and every other person that was in those camps experienced.

“I was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished stomach. The stomach alone was measuring time. ”(ch.4 pg.52) At the end of Elie Wiesel’s story Night I felt heavy-hearted for the way the Jews were treated. There were several events in this story that made me feel this way.
In the novel Night the protagonist, Elie Wiesel, narrates his experiences as a young Jewish boy surviving the Holocaust. Elie 's autobiographical memoir informs the reader about how the Nazis captured the Jews and enslaved them in concentration camps, where they experienced the absolute worst forms of torture, abuse and inhumane treatment. Dehumanization is shown in the story when the Jews were stripped of their identities and belongings, making them feel worthless as people. From the start of Elie Wiesel 's journey of the death camps, his beliefs of his own religion is fragile as he starts to lose his faith. Lastly, camaraderie is present as people in the camps are all surviving together to stay alive so as a result the people in the camp shine light on other people 's darkness.
