These animals worked hard against the justice they had face but they ended up back at square one when Orwell states “All that year the animals worked like slaves. But they were happy in their work; they grudged no effort or sacrifice, well aware that everything that they did was for the benefit of themselves and those of their kind who would come after them, and not for a pack of idle, thieving human beings”. The second point changes in employment is one of the first signs of corruption seen in the book. Its first seen after Old Major rallies the animals to fight against Mr. Jones. Old Major rallies everyone saying “Is it not crystal clear, then, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings? Only get rid of Man, and the produce of our labour would be our own. Almost overnight we could become rich and free. What then must we do? Why, work night and day, body and soul, for the overthrow of the human race! That is my message to you, comrades: Rebellion!” (Orwell 1) Old major used this propaganda to create the change he wanted to see. He created his ideal government. A government run by animals for animals or animals. The following point talks
Orwell’s Animal Farm is an allegory of Russia’s peasant uprising and overthrow of its final Czar, Czar Nicolas. Unlike in Animal Farm where the Jones family were just run off, the Czar’s family were all murdered. In Animal Farm, the animals separated themselves into groups based on species. After the Russian revolution, the peasants separated themselves based on profession. In Animal Farm, the pigs were the ones most able to read and write and took over leading their revolution.
On the very beginning of the novel, Orwell incorporates Old Major, an old animal, to make a final announcement to the animals and his view of society conceptualization. His main concept was, “All animals are comrades” (6). This phrase represents the succinct ideology of a socialist society with main element being, equality. Old Major is expressed by Orwell to represent Karl Marx, the inventor of theoretical socialism. By incorporating the name Old Major into context, he suggests old, multiple times defined as wise and thoughtful, but major can be represented implicitly by Marx’s ideology of equality.
The animals dreamt of a better life after the revolution, but in reality it became much worse. Orwell influenced us by making us think at the start that animalism was a great idea, but as the end of the story we could conclude communism could/would be corrupted very easily. He effectively changed our minds using situational
Since the animals were like blindfolded, no one made the connection between Boxer's being taken away and the pigs suddenly having more money. The contrast between what the animals believe, what the narrator actually is talking about, and what the reader knows to be the truth, fills one with an anger. (“Animal Farm: Animals Irony”) Animal Farm satirises the breakdown of political ideology and the misuse of power. The major players are animals but their failings are all recognisably human. They begin with an idealistic attempt to form a new society, liberated from the tyranny of humans and founded on the principle of equality and freedom for everyone, but it all goes wrong as the pigs take over.
In George Orwell’s Animal Farm, he demonstrates the characteristics and the quality of the leadership of the pigs. George Orwell establishes the pigs as dictators and tells us how they use and abuse their power with their actions and words. George Orwell starts off by showing us how the pigs start off their campaign to tyranny. The pigs are gaining power when Old Major dies, and Snowball and Napoleon assume command, and turn Old Major’s dream into a philosophy. The animals revolt and drive the drunken and irresponsible Mr. Jones from the farm, renaming the farm to “Animal Farm”.
Back in history, many leaders are overthrown and killed because corruption of power. Due to the fact, power was not distributed properly to the people they often feel uncomfortable and leads to rebellion. Yet, power corruptions are common these days, it is proven that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely by history and in modern days. “It is not wisdom but authority that makes a low.” Thomas Hobbes’ quote reveals that the world is all about authority and how powerful people are. In other words, to be able to rule, wisdom is not essential. However, authority is crucial. This quote relates to George Orwell’s Animal Farm as it represents the theme of power by the pigs that use propaganda, intimidation and false informations to take over the farm and to control the animals.
Animal Farm illustrates how leaders become corrupt when they abuse their power, treat the population differently based on their status, and the leaders manipulate and oppress the working class. Over the course of the book, Napoleon and the pigs abused their power. After an announcement about trading with the humans for supplies, Squealer
Napoleon mislead and misinformed the animals, under his power. The animals had their own opinions and beliefs but weren’t educated enough to propose them. The farm came to know that “some animals are more equal than others”(134), their last state was as bad as their first. Napoleon formed an alliance with the human enemy to establish his personal dictatorship, the ruling of the pigs became more and more indistinguishable from their human neighbors. “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to tell which was which” (141) Orwell’s message again, is that history can repeat itself, we must be careful and prevent that from happening, or we could end up in same situation as before, like the animals

The animals were so happy with their own farm that they changed the name from Manor Farm to Animal Farm. The pigs were the smartest animals on the farm so they naturally became the leaders.
