The Everest simulation has help me to virtually practice the management theories of leadership and decision-making. Especially in leadership, as I was given the opportunity to be a leader, I have experienced the challenges when handling a group with members that are new to me. At the beginning, I felt awkward and scared to speak up and lead the team because I do not want them to perceive that I forcefully involved myself and also directing them too much. In addition, reflecting back made me thought how the members were relying on me as the leader to lead them in which I did not do well. I learned that a leader should expect the team to look at the leader to have the ability to motivate and support them (Giltinane 2013).
Introduction According to dictionary .com the definition of group think is the practice of approaching for solutions which mostly dealt with understanding of a group rather than individuals acting independently, as well as conformity. In addition Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that is that is occurring in the group thinks and its need is in harmony or conformity of the group results in a way of irrational or dysfunctional decision making out come. Groupthink is a certain members control the ground for decision.
You need to understand the group dynamic, people may see themselves as individuals but for leader its forming the transition from individuals to group. Transition phase may be difficult because people hardly understand each other’s talent and roles and procedures are not clear to them. As a leader you help a group of people to become a team which work toward a common goal and collaborate each other. Start with building relationships among team members, clarify roles to them, identify resources available to them. Additionally, proper meetings are suggested to sit together with the team, discuss progress, highlight issues and resolve conflicts if any exist.
I. Introduction Team 6 in OB221 D4, “Reis’ Pieces,” is built on three core values: trust, compassion, and teamwork. During our GPS adventure, we journeyed through the city of Boston en route to several destinations. Our team learned very quickly of our open-minded personalities and ability to compromise. In fact, we failed to confront any personality conflicts and noticed a rather harmonious team dynamic considering we were all strangers. In completing the given tasks, we evaluated our options and made decisions collectively, inevitably forcing us to break out of our shells.
I attended an alcoholic anonymous group session twice to observe and write a PowerPoint presentation for my class during my undergrad time. It was large group consist of about 50 people. The leader of the group was able to set a positive tone. He started the session with prayer, and then explained how everybody can benefit from sharing each other experiences especially to new members. The leader was firmed and able to show concern and understanding.
First off, I can say that I truly enjoyed this experience as a facilitator for my group. Not only was it fun, but I also learned some very valuable lessons that I can now put into my repertoire as a counselor. I always enjoy learning from others and hearing new perspectives on different concepts such as my topic of stress, which made it fun. I once again was reminded that individuals handle stress in many different ways, including habits such as smoking, procrastinating, and eating, but also through positive methods such as mindfulness, journaling, and venting to other individuals. Teamwork requires individuals be a team player and to be able to work well with others; after all, there is no “I” in “Team”! As with any endeavour, we faced some initial setbacks. With this being our first college team assignment, we were all treading on unfamiliar territory.

In free association, group members are allow to say what comes to their mind without censorship but in other words, although they are encourage to speak their mind, still some patient might not be able to take the pain of expressing those painful thoughts during free association.
