In the adaptation of the novel Fahrenheit 451, very specific actors and celebrities were chosen to play the lead roles in the movie. The producers chose James Harden of the Houston Rockets to play Guy Montag for many reasons. James, like Montag, went from just contributing in his society and going along with what other people said and being a small role, to breaking out and being a greater role and an influence. Once James Harden left the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he was suppressed by Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, he left and joined the Rockets and became a superstar and someone who mattered in the NBA. Fahrenheit 451 Essay Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, is a science fiction piece about a dystopian society in which books are treated as enemies and burned by so-called firefighters. The main character, Guy Montag, is one of these firefighters who meets a girl named Clarisse McClellan who changes his life by teaching him to think about life from a different standpoint. This novel has three parts, and each one relates to fire in a way. In the first one, “The Hearth and the Salamander”, the reader is introduced to Mildred, Montag’s wife who never questions life, and Captain Beatty, Montag’s fire captain who is somehow incredibly knowledgeable.
Have you ever left fruit on the counter and seen it change slowly as the days go by? This is exactly how Guy Montag changes in the dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451. Ray Bradbury transforms Montag from a selfish fireman to the society's hero. In the beginning of the story the information about Montag makes him seem like a bad person.
At the outset, Montag was consumed by the darkness. He was a fireman who started fires instead of dousing them. Asked how long he has done so. He replies, “since I was twenty, 10 years ago.” (5) All the time he was, burning book after book, not knowing the full extent of his actions; he was totally unaware of all the knowledge being destroyed at his hand.

In the novel Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury reveals the ideas that a person known is a person loved and there is always good in something bad.
Though, it isn’t so much that his relationships change, but more of a realization on his part of what his relationships really are. Montag had been married to Mildred for years prior to the beginning of the novel, and, yet, they showed little to no chemistry throughout the story. Mildred’s character is very bland, as she is the epitome of the average person living in the society. She spends her days watching TV or talking with her friends on the phone. She sees little point in trying for anything and only wants to have fun.
Would anyone conform to their societies wishes if they were in Montag’s place, or would they still be their own individual as Montag did throughout Fahrenheit 451? Montag was told, on multiple occasion, to conform to the society and that it would be easier; however he denies society and forms his own individual personality due to the influences of his friends. Although Montag’s society told him to be indifferent and conform to what the society wanted, many other societies would have told him to be unique, not the doll that his society and government had made and told him to be. Montag was told to be what society wanted him to do; however, he lived by being an individual against the grain of society in the book. Montag had been told to conform to society and the government and even by his boss, yet he still rebelled against everything that had to do with conformity.
By examining that Montag now regrets the bad decisions he made in the past, tries to make people realize there is a big problem the world has to face, and since other people are willing to help him correct the world even if they’re put in danger, it is clear that Montag is a hero. Montag has realized that his past is filled with bad decisions and he finally chooses to fix his mistakes. An example of his regretful decision is when he burned down his house and Montag turned to face Beatty. Suddenly things he did every day without hesitation seemed silly. This is when the reader finally is able to identify the theme. For a while, it seems as though it is Montag against the world. The only person who could possibly understand him, Clarisse ,was murdered. His Family isn't an option and his wife Mildred was a lost cause.
Until Clarisse inadvertently forces him to accept the truth, Montag denies his unhappiness to himself as well as to everyone else. He fervently denies the suggestion that he is not in love with anyone, claiming without hesitation that he is “very much in love” with Mildred (Bradbury 22). In light of the emotionally vacant and meaningless interactions between Montag and Mildred, the assertion that such a relationship is ‘love’ seems absurd. Montag never stops to wonder whether the things he says are true or not; there is no reflection of himself in his words. Montag’s defensive, almost automatic, responses are characteristic of a man who voices only what he thinks he is supposed to feel, not what he truly feels.

Can books and people change a person’s way of thinking? Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is about Guy Montag who is a fireman who burns books and houses. Throughout the book he realizes he’s not happy so he has to transform his mindset by using books and people. Guy Montag changes in the story through his increasing problems in his relationship and his perceptions in books.
(Bradbury 12). Consequently, he takes a flamethrower and starts burning Beatty all of his co-workers stare at him in a daze not wanting to believe what’s unfolding before their eyes. Montag is trying to make a point of taking out the head firefighter. He wants people to know that thinking outside the box isn't an atrocious act and it never was. As you can see, many people helped to change Montag's beliefs and actions.
