The quote “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment” by Ralph Waldo Emerson, can be lived by many people in the world. "Live life to the fullest, and focus on the positive. " This quote by Matt Cameron (brainyquote) is telling us to live life freely and as best as we can. Life can be tough at times, but it's all on how you perceive your own life. Instead of going through the motions and letting life guide you, take life as a positive and live it to the fullest. In Elie Wiesel's (2006) book Night and the movie "Life is Beautiful" (2000), there are many different views and outlooks on life, but it's how you handle them that make it so much richer.
Since they want to be rich they care so much about their possessions and materialistic items that they will not carry after their death. Why is thanksgiving so important to me? Well, I personally think that Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday. The reason Thanksgiving is so important to me is because, I love when family comes over to our house and can sit down, and catch up with one another. My biggest reason Thanksgiving is so important to me is because my family coms over.
Helen Keller once said "...although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it." This quotation means that in life, you come to find yourself in many struggles, but there is always a sense of accomplishment over such problems. The reason I agree with this quote is because such triumph can only be accomplished after the fact of the occurrence of a struggle. The realistic fiction book, Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is a perfect example of my interpretation of the quote. The author uses conflict, figurative language and characterization to show that this quote is true.
Martha looked at the myth of Thanksgiving. The idea that an entire family would happily get together for a huge meal. The family will think and talk about everything that they are thankful for. This is heavily discussed in elementary schools. As a child I remember my teacher suggesting that at dinner we should go around the table and have each family member say something that they are thankful for.

As studied by Janet Siskind, the American Thanksgiving celebration is actually a very detailed ritual that contains many symbols. Similar to other rituals, the holiday reinforces certain social structures and “…reaffirms values and assumptions about cultural and social unity, about identity and history, about inclusion and exclusion” (168). The Thanksgiving ritual is centered around a return home, as people traveled from their urban homes back to their rural home to meet with their larger family. As a result, “the household became the site of ritual performance…” (175). The goal of the Thanksgiving ritual was to reaffirm the family and renew traditional ties, especially as more people had started moving into the cities around the time that the holiday became popular in the United States (176).
“As long as you live, there's always something waiting; and even if it's bad, and you know it's bad, what can you do? You can't stop living.” (Capote 88). This quote suggests that no matter what happens in life, there is always something else waiting, whether it be good or bad. Even if someone knows that what is waiting for them is bad, they cannot stop living and must face whatever comes next.
