Lifesaver Persuasive Speech

I am called Yarrow, by those who know me. Allow me to enter my story for the record. Once every four years, the many nations of planet Foath send forth their greatest athletes to compete against each other in epic showdowns. Over the course of two weeks, the mighty athletes challenge one another in a multitude of events.

Brittney Smith a 17 year old girl who goes to Maplewood High School where she is an honor roll student, a cheerleader, and is the student body president for the Junior classmen. She enjoys spending time with her family, hanging out with her friends, and she make sures that she makes the right decisions for the school. Brittney usually gets along with everyone in the school even the unpopular kids, but there is this one person she doesn’t like or can’t stand to be around. His name is Andre Jones, Andre is the captain of the basketball team and star player. Even though Brittney is around Andre during basketball games, she still refuses to talk to him or go near him.

The theme of “Taking the Plunge” is to accomplish any challenge you have to overcome your fears on your own. The platform represents a great challenge and now it is being tackled rung by rung, simultaneously you can still feel the nerves as the ascent continues.

On January 13th, 1982, 79 passengers on the Air Florida Flight 90 crashed into the icy, Potomac River less than a minute after take off. It is something that all of us come into contact with on a day to day basis and we never really think of where it comes from or its consequences. Many people believe that water should be able to be freely used because of this necessity, however there are those who view water as a vehicle for profit due to its high demand. Pollution, increased population growth, and scarcity have caused the value of water to skyrocket and almost surpass the need and demand for oil. Majority of the freshwater on earth is not accessible by man, causing the small amount that we can access to be fought over by global corporations and local governments. There is a rush to gain control of this natural resource which is producing an intense conflict in the United States in cities such as Stockton and worldwide in countries like Bolivia and India. No matter the political stance, it is understood that water is something that everyone should have access to. Whether or not citizens will have to pay a price for it is the difference between the two.

Most people can remember an event from their teenage years that they wish had never happened. Also we have all probably gone to extreme measures to try and cover up our wrong doings.
