The theme is courage because Susan B Anthony fights for women's voting rights. In the article she said “ May it please your Honor, I shall never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty. I shall earnestly and persistently continue to urge for women's rights.” This is important because she stood up to the judge, who is a person of authority. That alone could have had her imprisoned. She fought for her own rights along with other women’s rights.
In the story, Susan B Anthony shows courage when she sticks up for women’s rights and fights to be equal. This shows courage because, first of all, she was not allowed to speak against the law. She could have gotten in big trouble or sentenced to death. Eventually, she was put in jail. Even then, she still challenged equality for women.
Brave, educational, and smart are three character traits that describe Malala Yousafzai. Many people know that Malala Yousafzai as a girl that was shot by terrorists, but she is so much more. As a well known activist for female education, Malala Yousafzai showed girls without an education that they should stand up for their own rights. Yousafzai inspired women and girls that no one should be able to silence them and their rights. She left a lasting legacy to all girls that you should not be silenced by anyone.

She would want them to continue fighting for equality and would be proud that what she did had an impact, and changed the lives of women forever. I think she would be proud that women continue to delegate for themselves and make their voice heard in society, as well as lead independent lives, where they feel no need to be
Even after she was threatened and attacked she never stops fighting for what she believed was right. It got to a point so bad that she had to leave her home country and travel to the United States. With the attack on her, it made her even stronger. To this day, she is still trying to fight for female education rights around the world. In the end, both Odysseus and Malala showed significant signs of perseverance towards their goals, which make them a leader that many can follow and trust. Since others will know they will always be focus on the end goal and not stray
Even though the book tells a sad story, the use of logos makes the book a staple in raising awareness of human trafficking. Using experience, statistics, and reality, the novel instills both urgency and fear in its readers. The main character, Lakshmi, relates to a specific group of girls on an age level, yet her life does not relate to the Western lifestyle. The girls reading this book do not garden cucumbers on a hillside or tie aprons tight around their waist to evade the pain of hunger. McCormick writes to young western girls because they are the next generation women that both care and can make a difference.
Margaret Sanger Margaret Sanger lived a remarkable life devoted to reform by her slogan “Let every child be a wanted child” (Kasun, 2001). Margaret Sanger’s motivations, life preparations, and accomplishments prove her worth as a figure in the Progressive Era. Motivation Margaret Sanger’s motivations for altruistic efforts make her an important contributor in history. For example, her strong belief that women need information on contraceptives — after being “exposed to the ignorance about birth control” — pushed Sanger to work with everything she could possibly give (Mitgang, 1992). She was focused on the difference that she could make and the lives she could change; the chance of victory kept the fire burning.
Eleanor exhibited these qualities and so many more. Where some of the feats Eleanor accomplished are not as relevant to women today, such as establishing the Court of Love, her principals and the way she ruled both England and France are still present and waiting to be used as an example for modern-day leadership. Eleanor of Aquitaine took great steps in the way of women’s equality through her life, but now as all girls schools teach girls to be ‘founders’ it is more relevant that Eleanor has left a legacy that exhibits strength, resilience, and a character that one would not soon
The events of history impact our daily lives in a dramatic way. As a result of the people who stood out and fought for our rights, society is able to voice its opinion and live freely. For example, Sojourner Truth fought for women’s rights and wanted society to look at individuals for who they were, not what their gender was. The minds of many were changed by these powerful advocates and our lives are affected by their actions. Sojourner Truth was a very powerful and independent woman of her time.
Taliban Gives Women Courage Once the Taliban took over, women were hopeless, or that is what people thought. The Dressmaker of Khair Khana written by Tzemach Lemmon shows that these young girls and wise women knew that it was time for them to take over their own rights. Women were inspired by Kamila, a young and independent girl who lived in Afghanistan. They took after her with many efforts and creative ideas for everyone to use. After many obstacles, women started to figure out their own strengths which guided them to freedom and success.
During the book persistence is a main aspect. Malala was persistent to learn and push through everything that happened to her to get her education. Even after being shot she still was persistent in sharing her story. "I don 't want to known as the girl who was shot by the Taliban, but the girl who fought for her education. This is the cause to which I devote my life" I like this quote because after all that happened she still wanted to devote her life and make a difference to her education.

Troin Bellisario, from Pretty Little Liars is such a great leader, because she is integrity, self-assured, and last but not least commitment. She has motivated many people to never give up on their dreams. Integrity is one of the first things that relate Troin on the show, and in real life. When the rest of the girls had a doubt, or have a question, she would respond with pure honesty. She has mentioned “you don’t have to be perfect at everything, and that it’s okay to make mistakes”.
I always sought out to be the best example of an empowered woman, especially in this time in our country where the American woman is still not held in the same respect as the American man. I firmly believe in girl power and supporting your fellow women, it is one of the most important duties in my life when I see sexism still being a part of today’s society to try and defend the gender equality movement to the extent of my ability. Strawderman showed me to support other women, bringing out the best in a friend is one of the best feelings of accomplishment in life. At Sweet Briar, the time i’ve spent on campus has given me major flashbacks and visions of my Strawderman life. The rural Virginia campus, tender horses, and amazing faculty and students all make me feel so welcome into this incredibly nurturing environment I have not seen at any other college.
