History of Maori
The Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand. They are Polynesian and make up 15 percent of the country’s population. Te Reo Maori is their native language which is related to Tahitian and Hawaiian. It is believed that the Maori migrated from somewhere in Polynesia in canoes around the 9th century to 13th century AD. All the native New Zealander calls them “KIWI”.

Contemporary New Zealanders still enjoy traditional Maori foods and delicacies, and Maori kai continues to develop. So in our hotel we might provide place for guest try to hunt and cook by them, but first we need to teach them how to hunt properly. Moreover, to make the guest feel safety before go out for hunt the guest must listen and following the instructor carefully and know how to use the equipment.
How Maori cook?
Maori cooked their food in earth ovens, known in New Zealand as Hangi. Hangi is a traditional New Zealand Maori method of cook. First of all they need to digging a pit in the ground, heating stones in the pit with a large fire, placing basket of food on the top of the stones, and covering everything with earth for several hours before uncovering the Hangi. Therefore in our hotel the guest has two choices such as, to cook like Maori tradition style outside or buffet inside the hotel.

Tiki

Tiki is one of the most popular and most recognizable Maori symbols. Tiki is emblematic for the whole Polynesian hemisphere, an emblem of Polynesian culture from Hawaii to New Zealand. The exact meaning of Tiki symbol is disputed. There are several opinions but the most accepted are that Tiki stand for fertility, the frequently occurring hands placed on the loins is a direct reference to fertility. Tiki is a good luck charm meant to keep evil spirits away. We can use Tiki is our hotel symbols so that’s a good symbols because in our hotel will have a lot good things coming up. Inside the room we can put tiki symbols on lamb, bed clothes, wall or we can build tiki of wood and put in front of the hotel to lets the guest feel welcome.
