When Lewis was known to carry money on him. Wilkinson didn’t like Lewis because Jefferson was picking Lewis over him and Jefferson was known for killing people. Wilkinson planned the murder. He faked a note and had Neely sign it, told Mrs. Grinder the plan and told her what to say if she was questioned. Wilkinson had Mr. Grinder take the money so there was no evidence left behind.

“And George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close to the back of Lennie’s head.” (Steinbeck 106) At the moment when George steadies the gun, he made a choice. He decided that he would shoot his best friend in the back of his head rather than save him and go somewhere else. He would rather have Lennie’s blood on his hands and the disturbing memory of his best friend dead because of him. Not many people today would do this. This action of a man killing his best friend with no shake of his hand and not a second thought about what he was doing shows that violence no longer affects him.
No one in the court room could look at Yarris, because they felt he had killed her. In the early 1980s blood type was mainly used to identify people, since he shared the same blood group as the murderer, they felt sure he was the one who did it. Yarris was sentenced to death and put in solitary confinement, where he was not allowed to speak. It was part of the punishment, the prison had no sunlight and the block had about 140 men. The guards would beat them if they spoke, they allowed prisoners to exercise for an hour during this time, prisoners would often fight and beat each other in the prison.
Matt does not feel guilty for killing Richard and he shouldn’t him and his wife need peace of mind and they could not have it with the man that killed their son just walking around town. After Matt had killed Richard when he got home his wife asked “are you alright?” (Pg.10) and his response was “I think so” (Pg.10) that proves that he had felt no remorse for killing Richard Strout, he had done what he needed to do to get revenge for his son
Capote, with the intention of breaking the stereotype that murderers have no moral compass, describes the two murderers, Perry and Dick, differently. Capote includes that Wendle, one of the first people at the Clutter house after the murder, said that Perry and Dick would “cut out your heart and never bat an eye” (254). Capote illustrates that Wendle’s claim is not credible since Wendle drew his conclusion against Perry and Dick solely based on one source of evidence--the crime scene. Moreover, Capote utilizes Wendle’s opinion as a vehicle to establish that many, because Perry and Dick committed murder, immediately assumed that Perry and Dick do not value life, a typical stereotype of murderers. In defense of his virtue, Perry recalls “as we’re
Roger chose to torture the boys, and eventually he chose to kill Piggy. The experience of the island pulled something ugly out of him specifically, but in all the ways that matter, he was fully aware and in control of his choice to murder another person. The other murder, Simon’s, is different in that no one person chose to kill the boy. No one in particular summoned the malice to beat him to death, but the group as a whole lost their individual values and assimilated into the group. Chapter 2 of Opening Skinner’s Box explains that people abandon their core beliefs in order to satisfy some primal need to conform.
This colloquial diction used by Capote exemplifies the blatant lack of respect for human life that Dick has. The nonchalant attitude that Dick has about the murders is the exact difference between the two accomplices. Perry is questioning what they had done where Dick is so loose that he even makes a little joke about the events. As Perry is sugar coating the murders to help him deal with it, Dick is the exact opposite. He is cracking jokes about the murders, he is so comfortable with the fact that he had just been an accomplice in the murdering of 4 people that he is making jokes about it.
This is because almost nobody wished to obey The Council, certainly not twice. Lark Hill is a private building for political prisoners. V was at Lark Hill to be exterminated, likely for knowing too much about the government. There is a huge fire and almost everyone dies, except V and Delia. V targets Delia later on in the movie for torturing V at Lark
John cheated on his wife with Abigail, which is like a capital crime back in Salem. No one knew about this affair except John, Abigail, and his wife. Eventually, he did confess his affair, but it was too late and the court didn’t believe him.
