Oprah’s early life was a very trying and traumatic time in Oprah’s life. Oprah’s life began January 29th, 1954. Oprah was born to Vernon Winfrey and Vernita Lee in Kosciusko, Mississippi. At the time of Oprah’s birth neither of Oprah’s parents took her, she went to live on
She is not afraid of being real by sharing her own experience, including her setbacks and mistakes, to motivate others. Leveraging her fame on multi-award winning talk show, Oprah uses her influence and power to lift up people and make a better world. She has clearly become a brand. She understood that everything she does is the reflection of her brand. She cares about her reputation and is not interested to license her name for monetary gain.
Chosen Leader: Oprah Winfrey There are many great leaders throughout the world but the leader that our group chooses to write about is Oprah Winfrey - one of the world’s most influential women. Oprah Winfrey was born in 1954, she is a famous American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist. The reason why we choose Oprah is because our group has 5 ladies, all ambitious and want to be successful in life. Oprah is an example of a woman that had overcome many difficulties in life and became one of the richest women. Studying about her will help us apply her leadership style and hopefully be a better leader in the future.
One of the most inspiring women to me is Oprah Gail Winfrey. She was born on January 29, 1954 at 7:51 P.M. EST in Kosciusko, Mississippi, USA. Oprah was the daughter of two unwed teens, Vernita Lee and Vernon Winfrey. Oprah had two siblings, one half brother and one half sister, that both died. Oprah was originally named “Orpah” after the Biblical character in the book of Ruth, but there was a typo on her birth certificate.
She has continue to strive for a better place for every human, no matter race, gender, sexuality or past life. Isn’t that what moral courage is all about? The amount of pain and suffering she has endured is beyond imagination but she has taken her struggles and has thrown them away as if they are nothing to her. Oprah winfrey is a hero, to me and many people, for good reason. How could you possibly not love Oprah Winfrey.
Audrey Hepburn A woman who suffered through a war, managed to overcome many odds and become a memorable idol. From working with several name brand designers to helping those in need. Even going as far to give up her acting career just to be closer to her kids, it’s difficult to imagine such an extraordinary person existed. Audrey Hepburn was an academy-award winning actress and a naturally beautiful model. Born as Edda-Kathleen Hepburn-Ruston on May 4, 1929 in Brussels, Belgium; Audrey lived with her parents and two half siblings up until the age of six, when her father left the family to go to England.
In conclusion, Oprah Winfrey’s speech does an amazing job of using the Rhetorical Appeals to be effective to her audience. Her Ethos is established before she even takes the stage to make her speech. Her Pathos is woven in and out by using, stories and vivid imagery as well as the overall tone of the topic of sexual harassment. Although her logos are not relied on as heavily as the other two, it leaves room for the audience to bring their own thought, feelings, and experiences to the table to develop a logical underpinning for themselves. A lot of her rhetoric is layered to include a mixture of multiple appeals at the same time.
Taylor is another woman considered to have been prominent figures in the USA’s civil rights movement. Although they may not be current, Winfrey uses their stories of overcoming “brutally powerful men.” to empower women, attempting to make them feel that they can do the same. This also reinforces her closing statement, that “a new day is on the horizon!”. Winfrey believes that with so many people now coming forward with their stories of abuse and torment, society can begin to overcome these
For example let's take Operah's talking show. Operah Winfrey is a very influential person that owns a very large audience today. Whenever she invites someone on her platform that person's temporally get's a huge amount of attention. Attention is huge part of her show's success. People try very hard to get on her show and tell their
