Cicero is viewed as a man with many talents and passions. He was one of the greatest statesmen and orator in the Roman Republic along with his involvement in the courts as a lawyer. When not involved in politics and the courts he was involved with scholarly writing. These writing included the topics on orations, rhetoric, and political philosophy. He shared a view with Aristotle in that the statesmanship and the pursuit of knowledge were the highest callings for those who have the talent to pursue them and as a true Roman, he never lost his desire for public honor and never relinquished his conviction that a life of public service was the course that has always been followed by the best men.
These roles were important at the time, because the men involved eventually would bring us to freedom in America. I believe that the men are portrayed in the texts as being influential and intelligent. The texts portray them as people who have made an impact in our country, as they serve great value in our historical timeline. Though Jefferson and Adams both participated in the writing of the Declaration of Independence, it was unfortunate that they had both died 50 years before the day of the Second Continental Congress was approved in July 4, 1776. John Adams was also close to George Washington, and they would often spend time together as good friends.
With this education, John Marshall immersed himself into the world of law and order and set up his own practice. Marshall’s reputation as a fair man and his belief in a strong federal government continued to grow and shape his career. He continued to increase his role in the US Federal Government until finally he was nominated by President Adams to be Chief Justice of the US on January 20th, 1801. Starting from February 4th, 1801, when he was sworn in, Marshall’s opinion played a climatic role in high profile cases. In the Marbury vs. Madison case, he initiated the process of judicial review.
Through his decisive decision making, Colonel Moore is remembered in U.S. history as a very successful leader. One of Moore’s most notable accomplishments was his victory in the battle of Landing Zone X-Ray, showing his superb leadership skills, including decisiveness in predetermining his weak point and in sending his men to defend it. His courage brought him to the front lines, “where the metal meets the meat,” often being the first man off of his helicopter. He led his men by example. Colonel Moore is a prime example of the type of man the USMA hopes to create, and the man I aim
One rhetoric appeal he uses is ethos. Patrick Henry was elected by the Virginia house so already has credibility due to him being elected in the first place. As well for showing respect for those who were negotiating the problems with Great Britain.
Being a former governor, Henry had the knowledge of how the government system worked and was a figure who was looked up to in the state of Virginia. He was able to motivate through the use of rhetorical questions, a strong emotional appeal, and speaks directly to the audience in 1st person to influence their opinions personally. One of the main goals of the speech was to bring a sense of nationalism into the colonists through fear of what would happen if the British had control of America. Henry uses first person to bring a sense of mutual bonding to show that he is one of them and wants to help be a part of a movement which drew the people towards him. He encourages the fight by saying “we must fight!
Obviously he is someone of importance with a good education, moral values, and credible if he is speaking in Washington D.C. in the White House to the President of the United States. This will influence listeners/readers right off the bat knowing he has credible knowledge if he is speaking to government officials directly whom most have a high level of respect for, they will be more willing knowing this. He is also a Holocaust survivor which may also grasps more attention. Intrinsic ethos is used greatly in this speech through the word choice he makes to create a powerful tone. He is very skilled in the way he uses his language choice and terminology.
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King is the G.O.A.T. He is the Greatest Of All Time when it comes to writing and delivering speeches. King has earned this title of G.O.A.T. because of how he can take a social group and mold them into a certain image to maximize the reaction of his words. In his speeches, King is very wise because he knew the best way to have his message remembered and push forward the civil rights movement was to get an emotional response.
Why is he remembered as the father of Nation? Another evidence is that it is known for most people that Gandhi became an inspiration for the future leaders in their road to freedom and nationalist movements. One of them was great Martin Luther King who admitted with great pleasure the influence of the Gandhi on his actions. These all actually illustrate us to what extend Gandhi was an effective leader with his arguments leading the road for freedom to his country. To conclude, he was a man with tremendous personal courage by leading revolutionary change without the violence, a man who could transform the nation.
My first trait that makes a cooperative leader is working well with others. I feel like James Madison displayed this exceptionally well. Jefferson wasn 't alone in his fight with Hamilton. His lifelong friend and political ally, James Madison, backed him all the way. If Jefferson was the
Cascade lacrosse and their many influential athletes have all proven over the years how credible they have been. Cascade has been known as one of the most reliable companies in lacrosse, so when this campaign comes out, it will seem credible. Opinion leader Bill Belichick will also be used as stated above, he will serve as the well-known leader to the lacrosse community and beyond, to publically influence people to choose Cascade because of their safe helmets. The official helmet of major league lacrosse is the Cascade R helmet, so Cascade will rely on the influence that an organization like the MLL has. Cascade will also utilize selective exposure at the NCAA and MLL championships, as well as various lacrosse events to have maximum viewership.
