Kids get concussions that lead to CTE and some also get serious neck injuries and are sometimes paralyzed for the rest of their lives. People say it is the coaches’ fault and they should do more about the issue. Others also say it’s the kids for getting into the sport knowing the risks as they pertain to the sport of football. Parents also say that the sport is too physical and should reduce physical contact. Life ending injuries in sports could be reduced
Brain damage is a very big issue in football lately. But rugby has enforced rules that stop people from tackling high or around the shoulders. When a player tackles they can't lead with their head either. Rugby is much safer than its thought to be. So anyone who is worried about the safety of the players you can put that argument to rest.
Playing tackle football has an overall negative effect on the cognitive and memory aspects of the adult brain; therefore, the age of players needs to be increased above the age of twelve years old. Although some football enthusiasts believe that children under the age of twelve should play tackle football because it promotes friendship and teamwork, the negative impact that the sport has on the brains of adolescent males outweighs the comradery that the sport teaches. Children play the sport without thinking of the effects of the brain injuries. Through interviews with past players as well as scientific studies, researchers have found that the cognitive ability of males (average age of early fifties) is greatly affected by the age in which the young player began playing (Boston University School of Medicine). Boston University’s Dr. Robert Stern said the concern is not from concussions, it is from, “subconcussive hits: these hits that don’t necessarily result in the symptom right then, but people can get hundreds of them a year.” Stern went on to
Knock, knock do you think that football should be a sport well some people say it should not and other people say it should so today you are going to learn three reason why they should be a sport and why they should not first reason people say it should not is because you can get injured, you could get a concussion, and the good reason is Let them play, those are my three reason To begin with, people think it should not be a sport is you could get injured you can get injured in many ways you can get tackled head to head you can get a broken foot you could get a broken hand you could get sacked, there are many ways you could get injured playing football for example a in sorce one it states brain injury can result when a player uses his helmet to hit another player in the helmet this is called a head to head hit and the NFL's rules impose a penalty on a player who uses this tactic.that is one example that what could happen. Furthermore, people say that it can cause a concussion a concussion can happen if you do a head to head tackle but alot harder and football players suffer of concussion a concussion is a when you get tackled so hard that you lose your memory when you lose your memory you cant remember anything, alot of players suffer from a concussion football
Football is one of America 's favorite pastimes, but with future generations no longer playing due to the concern of concussions and injuries--it could vanish entirely. 20% of high school students who have played football have suffered from some type of concussion("Overweight & Obesity" 2017). So many parents are no longer allowing their kids to play football, which brings concern for the future of football. Yet football is a fun and active sport that keeps kids in shape even though obesity is a growing problem in the US. After examining children playing football, it is clear that parents should allow their kids to be apart of football because it keeps kids in shape, while keeping them safe, and allows them to be successful later on in life.
They think it perhaps is “interesting.” How is it interesting if players are risking their health for a league to make a huge commission. This is a reason why football should be banned for people of all ages. Violence is not the answer to anything. It has been proven through studies. This violence can lead to violence off of the football field.
Overall comments Recently there have been many debates about gun control, this is because of the rise of gun violence in the US. Many Conservatives and Republicans think that guns are their right, and it is their second amendment to bear arms in order to protect themselves, claiming it is unpatriotic to change it. However, according to Scholastic, the constitution has been amended 27 times since it was written. Some of these people think the solution to gun violence is to arm teachers and fight fire with fire. Those who do not wish to create more violence want to take guns away.

Did you know that 3.5 million children get injured each year by playing competitive sports? There has been a long disagreement about whether or not kids should be playing competitive sports, but I believe that kids should not play competitive sports. People that agree with kids playing competitive sports might argue that it is good because it helps/prevents obesity, helps kids make friends and gives them more time to hang out with friends, and help them in life. I do agree with those reasons, but I argue that kids should not play competitive sports because of injuries, stress, and overuse/burnout. One reason that children should not play competitive sports, is that it can cause many injuries that can even be fatal.
Topic: Why schools should spend more money on equipment to protect athletes from concussions and other injuries. In today’s society sports rule the lives of kids of all ages. Football, being one of the most popular, is on the decline because of the recent studies of NFL players having CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) causing early death and brain/memory problems. WIth these studies parents are starting to pull their children from playing football at a young age to try and reduce the risk of head injuries in general. The incorporation of more expensive protective equipment can reduce the risk of head trauma or any other head injuries.
It back fired and gave the Steelers field goal range to kick the winning kick and later costed the linebacker the first 4 games of the next season. The NFL has also made it so that you cannot hit quarterbacks to hard. The NFL has tried to cut down on the injuries given to quarterbacks by giving the unnecessary roughness call to the players. It’s given out when the refs think a hit is “too hard” and gives the offense 15 yards. Later in 2016, the NFL announced a new rule that made it if you got two unsportsmanlike conduct that you will get ejected out of the game after one game involving Carolina Panther’s cornerback Josh
The NFL has restricted teams to only allowing 14 full-contact practices during its 18-week season. Not only has this happened at the professional level but at the collegiate level as well. Players who make contact with another player by using the crown of their helmet are subject to a penalty as well as ejection upon review of the hit. The Ivy League has even gone as far as to starting in the 2016 season to non-contact practices. These new rules have upset some football fans that say that the game is meant for hard hitting and violent collisions.
Football is the most American of all of the sports we play. We have good memories of playing catch and watching games with our friends, however, there is a darker side to this all-American sport, the damage done to the brains of the players. While the NFL has attempted to make great strides in preventing further damage to players on the field suffering from concussions, the rates of concussions continue to rise. In 2014, 206 concussions were diagnosed, while in 2015, that number rose to 271 concussions. If these new regulations truly had an effect upon the safety of the players, we would instead see little growth, if not a decline, of diagnosed concussions.
Players that are suspected to have a concussion or brain injury, have to get cleared by a neurologist before getting back into the game. This precaution has saved many players from going back into the game and becoming more injured. Also, the NFL has reduced concussions by fining players for hitting players in defenseless positions. Although the number is dropping, 154 is a considerable amount of concussions. Some minor rules have been changed by the NFL to make the game more safe, however concussions are still happening.
The debate begun about football being suicidal due to the rising numbers in the concussions and accidents that are happening to professional football athletes and the deaths that have occurred in regards to these concussions. In my opinion, being a football player, football isn 't as dangerous as critics who aren 't out on the field playing make it to be. It has its pros and cons, but football is a sport that benefits you and your health by staying fit, and a great way to learn team building. There isn 't a way to prevent concussions hundred percent, but there are proper ways to help prevent them. Proper techniques of blocking and tackling can help prevent concussions.
