As her white river raft hits the treacherous rapids, she ensures that she does not just emerge but emerge stronger. As the CEO of the controversial Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards does make sure that her beliefs and her company emerges stronger each time they take a hit. I admire Cecile’s for the way she handles the criticism she is hit by, for her ambition to fight for what she believes in, and for her dedication and passion. Cecile deals with a numerous amount of reproductive health issues. For example, the on-going battle of abortion that all started with Roe vs. Wade in 1973 makes Planned Parenthood a target for anti-choice activists. This year in mid-July a video was released by an anti-abortion activist group that calls themselves the Center of Medical Progress. An activist of this group acted as a representative from a biomedical firm discussing a ‘purchase’ of fetal tissue with a Planned Parenthood employee. The past few months Cecile Richards has been making press conferences, meeting with politicians, addressing the circumstance, and defending Planned Parenthood. Prior to the video Planned Parenthood’s patients who undergo abortions have the option to donate fetal tissues for research. Those tissues were then sent to biomedical firms and in return Planned Parenthood would receive a compensation to cover the cost of the program. The activist in the video made it appear as though Planned Parenthood received profit from the program which has been proven to be a false statement. Within the last week, Planned Parenthood has changed their policy regarding fetal tissue. Now, Planned Parenthood will be covering the cost without a reimbursement. Cecile Richards stated, “Planned Parenthood's policies on fetal tissue donation already exceed the legal requirements. Now we're going even further in order to take away any basis for attacking Planned Parenthood to advance an anti-abortion political
