Robert E. Lee, also known as Robert E. Lee, was an American soldier best known for his contributing in the American Civil War. Today, Robert E. Lee has became a heroic figure in America. To his soldiers, Robert E. Lee was an indispensable people because he is the leader. He was not only a great leader, but also a tough people that willing to suffer great pain. Robert E. Lee was born in 1807, in Virginia. Lee was born in a political family. His family had a president, a justice, and some even signed for the Declaration of Independence. He went to West Point Military Academy when he was only 18 years old and graduated with perfect scores. After graduating from West Point, Lee married with Mary Custis. Lee's military took just one hour to win this war. This showed his quality of leadership. Success of this war made him to be a candidate of the leader of the Union Army. But Lee’s guarantee to the Union Army was replaced by his guarantee to Virginia. Lee resigned from the military again after he refused President Lincoln demand to lead the Union Army. Then in 1861 after Virginia voted to secede from the U.S in 1861, Lee agreed to lead the Confederate forces. In 1862, he became the leader of the Northern Virginia’s Army and defeated the Union Army in the Seven Days Battle. Later in August, Lee won the Second Manassas War. But everything then turned bad suddenly. He was ill badly when he and his army tried to escape at the Antietam War. Nearly 14000 of his soldier died in that war. In July, Lee’s military got another heavy casualties in Pennsylvania. This time, the battle almost destroyed his whole army. In1864, Ulysses S. Grant captured Confederate’s capital, Richmond.
