When people feel that they can freely express their frustrations, and feel that they are unpleased with an opinion from a government or kingdom. These types of people (such as Romeo) will often feel an uncontrolled urge to take matters into their own hands. And this will lead up to finding them in an act of defiance. Additionally, this is what makes our main heroine Romeo defies his family (or house) and marries Juliet without their acknowledgment.

Is there ever a time that a movie is the same as the book? Well not in The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin which the GLMS sixth grade students read and watched. But in most movies based of of books a lot of key details are left out. The students tried to figure out who murdered Sam Westing. The Westing Game movie and novel contain many similarities and differences that are worth noting.

The Diary of Anne Frank takes place Amsterdam, Netherlands. In the book Anne and her family are Jews in World War II. Because of the oppression of the Jews, Anne and her family are forced to go into hiding. Anne, her mom Edith, her dad Otto, her sister Margot, Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, Peter Van Daan, and Mr. Dussel. In the beginning of the story, Anne is very emotional because she had to leave her friends and old life behind. Our class witnessed two different versions of the story, a play and a movie, but even though these are based off of the same book, they have several differences and similarities.

In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet,Romeo and Juliet were two very similar people by the way they acted to even the way their families acted. They both get treated the same way by their parents, they both were not honest, and even their families acted the same way.

Paulo Coelho, an author, once said, “Close some doors. Not because of pride, incapacity or arrogance, but simply because they no longer lead somewhere.” This is exactly what some movie producers do. When a movie is based off of a book and some parts are not needed they take out that scene. For instance, in the movie A Raisin in the Sun, they take out quite a few parts that lead to nowhere. While in the play there are many unneeded parts. The movie, A Raisin in the Sun, is better than the play because it includes more detail and background story.

Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to talk to someone but you couldn 't due to problems in the past? If you can relate to this, I would recommend reading Romeo and Juliet. In the story Romeo and Juliet, Lord and Lady Montague and Lord and Lady Capulet are ultimately at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Due to lord and lady capulet and montague continuing their everlasting feud, romeo and juliet both ended up committing suicide. Both romeo and juliet believed that they could not live without one another so when romeo mistakenly thought juliet died, he killed himself which led to the death of juliet.

Pointing fingers to assign someone the blame often happens when reading. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is no exception. The story is of two star-crossed lovers who fall deeply in love then tragically die by their own hands. The blame could be given to the most probable characters. However, many small decisions made by numerous people caused Romeo and Juliet to end tragically.

There was a feud going on between the two families that lead to a series of tragedies. In the play and movie of Romeo and Juliet there were two young teens. One was named Juliet, her mother was forcing her to marry a guy named Paris. However she did not want to marry Paris. Then there was Romeo who was from a different household; that happened to be enemies with the Capulet household. Romeo then goes to Juliet house party; they end up falling in love that night.While some differences between the movie and play are weapons,when Romeo sneaks out and when Juliet wakes up before romeo dies.The similarities are how Mercutio dies in both the play and movie. In Romeo and Juliet the two different families didn’t get along.

The other differents with Shakespear’s work are the setting. In this movie, the Montagues and Capulets are two humans who live side by side as neighbors that share a duplex on Verona Drive in present day Stratford-Upon-Avon. Nevertheless, they live in feuding. Mr. Capulet and Miss Montague do not like each other so naturally.Their backyards are landscaped with so many flowers and filled beautifully with colorfull garden ornaments, and especially gnomes. The movie shows Romeo coming into Juliet’s tomb. When he is there, Juliet starts to wake up. Romeo drinks the poison. She touches his faces and watches her true love die in her arms. She then takes his gun and shoots herself. This scene in the movie is very different from the play. The first reason is because Paris is there when Romeo gets to the tomb. Romeo kills Paris. Also, in the play Romeo dies before Juliet awakens from the coma. When she does awake, Friar Lawrence is there to get her because the police are coming. Instead Juliet sees Romeo and stabs herself. The movie suicide scene is missing Friar Lawrence and Paris. Both in the play and movie the main point is that Romeo and Juliet die because they think the one another is dead. The first time Romeo and Juliet meet is at the Capulet party, this is portrayed in both movies differently, in the 1996 version Romeo is walking by an aquarium, looking at the fish, when he sees juliet, their eyes meet and follow each other, but just as they were going to come face to face, Juliet’s nurse grabs her, and takes her away to dance with Paris her future husband. In the 1968 version Romeo is far away from Juliet, and he hides behind a column, she is dancing with some people, but she is too far away, and has lots of people between Romeo and Juliet. The setting of the movie is the first obvious difference that can be seen. The movie was set in New York City, New York in 2000 while the play was set in Elsinore, Denmark in the late middle ages. This greatly affects the way the movie is viewed because it is essentially an entirely different world. In the movie there are video cameras, cars, phones and skyscrapers, all things that obviously weren’t around during Shakespeare’s time. Even if the movie and the play had been based in the same year, the story still would have been slightly different. The United States of America didn’t even exist during Hamlet 's lifetime. But if Hamlet had been alive in 2000 in Elsinore it would still be a different story. New York City is the second largest city

There were multiple differences in the movie and the play, The Crucible. Some were small changes that not a lot of people would notice, but there were also some that completely alter some elements. What were some of these differences?

The "Romeo + Juliet" produced in 1996 directed by Baz Luhrmann indeed shows a fine example of the major differences and changes that a story needs when a movie is filmed out of the book especially with the changing time. The film is a shortened version of the original Shakespeare 's play. The movie follows the story line very closely with the original story. To make the movie more practical and suitable, the story in the movie shows that the two families are running corporations which are against each other rather than the typical family differences. And the feud between the two families creates chaos in the community. The whole movies have kept the track of originality in its important characters, scenes and the flow of the play. The story starts with a fight with scene between the Montague boys and the Capulet’s and ends with the death of the lovers, Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare, originally published in 1597. It is a tragedy of two star-crossed lovers, who fall in love with each other despite their families hate. The play is taught in many schools and it is often coupled with a movie adaption of the play. There have been many movie adaptations of Romeo and Juliet done and yet there are only a few out of the five I have watched that I would recommend. The top one that I would recommend is the 1968 version, directed by Franco Zeffirelli.
