An overthrow of the government seemed to be a thing of the late seventeen and early eighteen hundreds as quite a few revolutions took place. In particular, the American, French and then shortly thereafter following the Haitian revolution all took place during this time span. Each group initially achieved their goals, however, each victory achieved came through many different grades of success. Each revolution shares an adequate amount of similarities, however, differences are pronounced and seen throughout each revolt as well. To begin, The American, French, and Haitian revolts were all nourished from philosophical ideas of the enlightenment.
The American and French Revolution The American Revolution and the French Revolution are two of the most widely known revolutions the world has ever seen. Many consider these two revolutions to be scarily similar to one another, but when you dig deeper into this area of discussion, you can see that the two revolutions are perhaps not as similar as many would think. Of course there are the obvious similarities, for example the fact that they both occurred during the later eighteenth century and that both undermined the power of existing, monarchical governments. Obviously, the French had their own monarchy (King Louis XVI), while the American colonies were under the monarchy of Britain (King George III) (Wikipedia, American Revolution).
The American revolution inspired the French revolution by providing a blueprint on how to run a nation as a democracy. It was also an inspiration for the French because it gave them hope they could defeat a major military power. Enlightenment ideas inspired the French revolution because they made people want basic human rights and ways to run their new government. The estate system inspired the French revolution because 97% of the population that was being abused financially was sick of it. “The French Revolution differed from other revolutions in being not merely national, for it aimed at benefiting all humanity.”-
The French nobles, Bourgeoisie, and peasants wanted to break away because the people wanted more power, to overthrow the monarchy, or to change the tax system. Both France and the U.S. had a revolution and became a separate country. One of the reasons for both why the had a revolution was that they were both ruled by a monarchy and both were influenced by enlistment ideas also both of the revolutions were set in the late 1700s. Another similarity between the U.S. and France is that they both elect their political leaders. Both France and the U.S. both have a legislative, executive, and a judicial branch and both presidents
The American and French Revolution are both remembered in history as two major changes that would shape what we know today. Every child learns of the American Revolution at least once in their lives. Both these revolutions had the similar cause, effects, and stages that resulted or started them. Just like in every warring country, it is inevitable that there will be some change that occurs whether it be for the better or for worse. Although the American and French revolutions were very similar in the actions, there were many differences leading them into ultimately different paths and states of rest.

I believe that the French, Haitian and American Revolution were similar and different in many ways. The revolutions had important leaders, George Washington, Napoleon and Toussant L’Oerture. I feel that they were socially similar because of the Enlightenment, which was a source of inspiration for change. They where also similar in political way because they all had constitutions. I fell that there was a social difference between these revolutions because Haiti was more focused on freedom for the slaves rather than independence.
The main difference between the American and French Revoultion was that one successfully converted to a democratic government and one did not. The French Revolution was not successful in forming a democratic government due to France’s history of a monarchy, economic issues and divison among its’ people. Unlike America, France had a long history of sole rulers and dictatorship which made the change to a democratic government much more difficult and ultimately impossible. America’s motto of “all men are created equal” (Doc A) was the complete opposite of France’s dividing estate class system. The third estate consisted of peasents, common people and the bourgeoisie, the second estate belonged to the Nobles, and the first was the home to the Clergy.
The American and the French revolutions were more similar than different. One similarity being is that both the Americans and French wanted to escape the rule of their King. Also, both revolutions were started by an uprising of people against unfair taxation by the monarchy. American colonists protested against taxation passed by the English Parliament without any representation in that body.
Compare and contrast of The French Revolution and The American Revolution The American revolution and the French Revolution are two major incidents happened in the 1700s, which had intense social impacts on both French and American societies. In general, the American Revolution was more successful than the French revolution. The similarity between them is that the citizens in both countries, both faced the block of common economical development of the government. However, there is a difference that makes the American revolution succeeded while the French revolution doesn’t.
The first way that the French Revolution in the late 1700s and the Russian Revolution in the early 1900s compare is their government. During their times, they both had weak leaders that did not desire to rule, this was King Louis XVI of France and Czar Nicholas II of Russia. Both Royal families were eventually executed or assassinated. Also, both countries around the time of their revolutions were affected by a war in a way, the American Revolution for France and World War I for Russia. Both tried new governments, for France this was democracy and for Russia it was communism.
