One parallel between McCarthyism and The Crucible is that immense power was given to those who accused others. McCarthy’s unsubstantiated claims ruined the lives of many people living in America, and the girls’ unsubstantiated accusations ruined the lives of many people living in Salem. Both McCarthy’s actions and the girls’ actions led to increased hostility and hysteria. In both instances, the accusers could accuse anyone they wished to accuse, and they did not have to show much or any evidence; their claims were unreliable and erratic. This is portrayed in Documents B and C.

Ryker Moses Mr.G English 11A 16 December 2022 Arthur and his Crucible There are many reasons why people will write a play, book, or movie. For example, some people draft books or plays to escape their problems or to relax themselves. Aruther Miller is no exception to this principle. Many aspects of Mr. Millers’ life influenced his writing of his book the Crucible.
It all started in Salem, Massachusetts. Reverend Parris’s grand daughter Abigail and some of her friends were out in the woods dancing. They were dancing by a hot kettle of boiling water. 8 months before this, Abigail was released from the Proctor’s house because she was having an affair with John Proctor. When asked about what they were doing in the woods Tituba said she was doing witchcraft and in order not to die she started accusing other people of it, and those people were arrested.
7) Were there any instances in the timeline where something could have been done to prevent Amy’s death? If so, when? • When Amy told her coworker she was beaten with a bat some type of authority should have been contacted immediately • When Vincent called Amy’s job repeatedly, they should have called the police and reported him for harassment • Vincent came down to Amy’s job and started an argument with her which could become trespassing and he may have been arrested • When Amy went to her home the final time to pick up items for her children, there should have been at least two people who went in with her. Everyone knew he owned a gun and her going into that home was honestly a huge mistake.
“The Crucible” characters remind me very much of the lyrics we listen to today in our time period. In this story it displays a lot of the same characteristics in the song I have chosen, “Girlfriend” from Avril Lavigne. Throughout the song Avril displays a lot of hate for the other women who at this point is committed to the man she wants. Which displays a lot of the character that I have chosen, Abigale. Throughout the song she states, “I don’t like your girlfriend, I think you need a new one.”
“The Crucible” is a fiction story that took place in a small town called Salem in the state of Massachusetts in 1692 during the spring time. The plot of this story is about a group of girls who went into the forest led by a black slave named Tituba. They were all dancing in the forest until Reverend Parris caught them dancing in the forest and even saw one of the girl naked. Parris’s daughter Betty who was there in the forest falls into a coma-like state when Reverend Parris caught them. Reverend Parris only noticed his daughter was sick the next day and accused Abigail William, who is Reverend Parris’s niece, of witchery and caused his daughter to go into a coma-like state.
What has been the most difficult challenge you have ever faced and ultimately accomplished? Ronald Reagan once said, “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. The Marines don't have that problem”. I was an active duty marine for eight years and I’m sure that any other marine that has served can agree with me when I say; The Crucible, is the most difficult challenge Marines have to face during their time in boot camp. The challenge lasts an excruciating fifty-six hours that are broken down into three days, and has a total of fifty-one miles that have to be brutally hiked before graduating boot camp.
The Crucible Trials Many people were gruesomely hung in front of whole communities because of a few selfish little girls who were at most to blame for the unfair trials. In the novel “The crucible” by Arthur Miller was based in Salem Massachusetts where everyone 's word was trusted and a small lie could have many people hung at the stake. Although the girls were the most fitting culprits Mary Warren could also be to blame for the Witchcraft and bad intentions. Mary was found with a pop it doll of Elizabeth proctor and she is guilty because Abigail uses the doll to frame elizabeth for witchcraft and mary agrees to go with john proctor and testify against Abigail. Abigail is a mean person who wants her way no matter

Michael, depressed and melancholy, returns home to deliver the news to his mother, Frau Holtzapfel. The devastation following the loss of her son was apparent, which only causes Michael to feel guilty. Act 4 Reader’s Response When I began reading act four of The Crucible, I hadn’t developed strong feelings, positive or negative, about any characters. There were certain people I didn’t necessarily like throughout the first three acts, but there was never a point when I became extremely frustrated with any of them. In this act, that wasn’t the case. Deputy Governor Danforth proved to me as act four progressed that he wasn’t concerned for the people of Salem, he was concerned about not allowing himself, the government or his God look weak. I discovered how his reputation became more important to him than standing up to the hysteria and saving innocent lives.
But, Micheal thought he worked as a waiter, but in all truths he was a ticket seller outside the stadium trying to make money. He didn’t want to keep those secrets from his brother, but he has to, to keep his brother in sport with a glove and clothes and food and a place to sleep. “At night, when Michael thought he was busing tables at Hector’s, Carlos was working outside Yankee Stadium, scalping tickets to Yankee games, as afraid of being spotted by his brother as by the police.” (p.124). I like this on because he shows how much he is willing to risk jail time in order to get his brother a better life.
