His story is retold the magnificent book unbroken. Written by Laura Hillenbrand, so beautifully Re-creates the hardships he survives. My book falls under the category of a quoting quote hero because, clearly it features a hero. I would say Louis Zamperini is considered a hero for many reasons.
“I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by lions” Alexander the Great. Killer Angels the historical novel by Michael Shaara details many great lions of leadership. One of these great lions of leadership was Joshua L. Chamberlain, a colonel of the Union army. Chamberlain coming in to a leadership position after acting as a professor led to him becoming a great leader through his personality characteristics. These included how he was a decisive and intuitive leader, an understanding leader, and an intelligent leader.
Leadership takes a lot, it takes character and courage most importantly. Frederick Douglas was a great leader he showed leadership and character all the time especially for being a slave and coming from a rough childhood. There are many others in the Civil War time that showed leadership such as Abraham Lincoln, Robert Lee, and Jefferson Davis. Frederick Douglas was very committed to what he was doing for example, he wanted to learn how to read and he followed through with it and stay committed no matter what happened he would get help from the white boys in the streets while he would say he was running errands, he knew what he was doing. Any time he could get a chance he would read and learned from his master’s wife how to read.
Bravery and courage are one of the similar characteristics being equal between them, as they both fought for themselves and the people of Rome. The leader in the modern time that I think is a good leader is the US president Barack Obama. He is the first African American president
The truth is that there are many ways that a man can be remembered. Perhaps to be a man of this nature you must face trials most likely leading to your impending doom, or maybe you have to simply be the one to forget the odds and keep on fighting. Many soldiers in U.S. history are remembered for these exact reasons. They are thought to be strong, brave, and willing to fight to the last man for their country. One such man was George Armstrong Custer.
Sometimes, heroes are recognized through their actions displayed in pressing conditions. Even if a hero does not have a needed skill in the current situation, he can assess it and be able to demonstrate courage, meaning that besides being body-strong, a hero must be mind-strong. In the story The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, Bilbo Baggins is the perfect example of a hero. He helps the band of dwarves trick the nefarious spiders, escape from the magical elves, and finally assign himself the responsibility to talk face-to-face with the dragon Smaug. Although Bilbo had never been on adventure or fought monsters, faced his dilemmas with sensible activity.
Many described his raids to be “brutal” and “savage”. In 1884 General George crook U.S army’s most celebrated army man persuaded Geronimo to return back to the San Carlos apache reservation. There is no doubt that Louis Zamperini fits the description of a modern hero because of his mental strength, physical strength, determination, and his bravery. Louis Zamperini dealt with many things during his time as a Prisoner of War (P.O.W.) and other times during his life that classify him as a modern hero. His physical strength is shown in many different ways throughout the duration of Unbroken, written by Laura Hillenbrand. The first time it was mentioned was when Zamperini made it to the Olympics at the young age of 19 and clocked a quarter mile in 56 seconds during his race. He showed his physical strength when he and Phil lasted 47 days in a life raft after crashing their place in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
No great hero goes down without a fight. Typically, when one hears the word “hero,” images of a great soldier, military leader, or even their favorite Avenger comes to mind. Yes- those are all heroes, but it can also be any person who stands for courage and holds onto their true beliefs through good times and bad. The great Socrates is the true epitome of a hero; this is most evident around the time of his death. While reading Plato’s “Apology” in The Trial and Death of Socrates, it is almost impossible to not be inspired by his bravery and tenacity.
Achilles was sometimes a great warrior, but could be seen as very selfish. He could be seen this way by his family, peers, and fellow soldiers fighting with him. Achilles was not fully selfish, because he had a few accomplishments that made him a person to look up to. Achilles was a great Greek hero, but no warrior is ever perfect. In book one of the Iliad, the Greek King of Mycenae, Agamemnon, took a woman named Chryseis, angering Achilles.

All good heroes who have courage, show patience in their life. You need patience in order to fairly succeed in life. Louie Zamperini had to be proactive in the situations he faced. When he spent 47 days on a raft with two others, he took charge on conserving the food and water. When Zamperini was in his early teens, he found himself in trouble often.
Without authencity and courage; Juan Carlos would have failed in being an effective leader because he wouldn’t have the framework or base necessary for people in society to actually trust him. Like he said to his son, “If in this life it is as important to form and strengthen character enough to permit us to lead” (Govan 1). This creed given to the Young Officer Course of 2014 has all the answers to becoming a leader who truly leads by example “Fit to Fight Fit to Lead” Soldiers and war go hand in hand therefor it would be expected for soldiers to go into training so that when the time comes for the war he/ she is competent and physically capable of overcoming the enemy. As the officer in charge of these men who will send them into battle, you would want to be certain that if you send your men into fight that they won’t desert the country or the mission given and that they can be successful in achieving the goal.
