With many contradictory sources trying to solve the questions of life, Christians should have an infallible trust in the Bible. These sources may lead believers to mistrust the Word or be misguided over real truth. If a person loses his or her trust in the Bible, then he or she could lose his or her trust in God and the Church. With this potential doubt, Christians need to know that their Bible is the eternal and inerrant word of God. To be inerrant, the Bible must be absolute in is historical and scientific accuracy.
Biblical Inerrancy
The main adversity that many Christians wrestle in believing the Word of God is about the Bible’s historical and scientific accuracy. Many people would agree that history is the study of past events that lead

Devorah Schoenfeld, writes in her article, “Comparing Jewish and Christians” about how through geography found in the books of the Bible, such as Genesis, Exodus, and Joshua, students can learn about the history of the Jewish people. (512). A believer can be confident in the Bible because it lays out the places and events of many generations of people dating back to the exodus of the Israelites. Also, when the people of the Bible interact with other civilizations, such as the Egyptians and Romans, they too have written record of same events. Tacitus, an nonbeliever in Rome at the time of the crucifixion even wrote, “Christus, … suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition…” (15.44). The history of the Bible is ingrained into the history of mankind and cannot be disputed …show more content…
According to Genesis, “…a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (The Holy Bible Gen. 2.24). God planned for a male and a female to marry and “piece” together to form a new family. As earlier in Genesis, God created Eve for Adam out of his side to be his companion and a mate to reproduce alongside. Homosexuality, or any impurity to one’s sexuality, dilutes God’s perfect plan. This lifestyle stands on physical attraction, but God’s plan stands on a spiritual bond between a husband, his wife, and God. If a couple both stands on the power and authority in the everlasting love of God, that bond will not fade. However, if a couple stands only one another, as soon as one fails to be perfect, the bond will be challenged.
When a human chooses a path based on a physical want, it is known as rebellion. Rebellion fueled by the flesh can only lead to one straying form the love of God. According to The Popular Encyclopedia of Apologetics, “…Homosexuality is rebellion against God’s sovereign intentions in creation, and a gross perversion of His good and perfect plan for his created order.” (Hindson and Caner 270). Homosexuality perverts the very design of marriage. The fact that modern society want to challenge and change the definition of marriage should scare Christians. The sinful world wants to divert from the teachings
Marriage is not two men, two women, or two man married to one women or any other combination. The attack against marriage is an attempt to redefine marriage. Marriage equality suggest that we have to expand the definition. It is not an attempt to expand the definition it is to constrict and destroy marriage in the Christological concept between one man and one
It states clearly in the bible followed with simplicity having an explanation of its symbolic representation that this generation is of the worse in this society and that we will be dealing with series situations like: Witch-craft, Homosexuality, Adulterers, Haters, Liars, False accusers, Hypocrites and all the wicked things you could ever imagine and that’s why people disagree of what’s been said because it’s the truth. We can see it happening everywhere and it has come to reality. Some people fail to realise why? And then they question why life has to be so harsh towards them, why it has to be this way? We see people around us, how they portray themselves their actions, with homosexuality its wrong with a sudden act they react if someone stated something they disliked and get offended with what’s been said then you see their true colours, some encourage it homosexual to still continue even when they know it’s wrong and then others disagree.
The Points giving by this prospective seem very valid and moral to a certain class of personalities, but to another class they acknowledge that god clearly states gay marriage as unjust and wrong. Leviticus 18:22: " Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." 3. Leviticus 20:13: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." Coming to the conclusion to some being that the pastor had a right to deny the couple for what he stands for rejects the act to support sin, for he is a leader giving to reflect and evangelize god’s word and never depart or deny from him due to horrid circumstances .In
Equality and same-sex marriage is similar to that of The Crucible. The thought of a same-sex marriage happening within the holy walls of God, is a sin, in the eyes of the church. Many churches have banned the ceremony of gay/lesbian marriages. The churches that disallow same-sex marriages are Baptists, Methodist, Catholic and Presbyterian churches. This selective behaviour from those particular churches, have caused hysteria from supporters of equality, especially the LGBTQ+ community.
(110) Hypothetical question here—would it be foolish to think that the author of a textbook that purports to take a rigorous historical approach to introducing New Testament writings and early Christian writings would know better than to introduce an idea, a theory that has never been proven and pass it off as history? It appears the line that separates historical fact from fiction is easily
In 2 Timothy 3:16 Paul refers to Scripture as “breathed out by God.” This is a verse we should memorize and cling to. But for many Christians, this might be the only proof that would come to mind. The issue of the authority and inspiration of Scripture is not just a topic to be debated by scholars, nor is it simply an apologetic issue to be defended against skeptics. This is a truth that shapes how we approach God and how we listen when He speaks.
When it comes to knowing and learning the religions of the world one must approach them with a critical mind. One cannot simply just believe every religion and know have their own view points. David Van Biema presents his ideas about Christianity and Jesus in “The Gospel Truth?”. Van Biema’s main point is about how “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John… is notoriously unreliable,” . Van Biema writes about how one cannot be completely sure about whether to believe if Jesus actually said what is written in the bible, he continues to say that Jesus may even be an “imaginative theological construct” .
When talking about the bible it is not important to reach the conclusion on the conversation it is important to start the conversation. Interpretation of the bible needs to be an open mind. Some people are going to think differently of the bible than you; but you have to keep an open mind because there is no right or wrong answer. You also have to forget what everyone else is telling you about the bible to be able to have your view and interpret what you think of it with the opinion of other people. The bible does not only have one view and as Brueggemann states, “The Bible requires human interpretation which is inescapably subjective.”
This being the case, Five Views on Biblical Inerrancy is a book on the doctrine of inerrancy where five Christian scholars, R. Albert Mohler Jr., Peter Enns, Michael F. Bird, Kevin J. Vanhoozer, and John R. Franke discuss their various perspectives on biblical inerrancy, narrowing the focus on four significant issues – (1) God and his relationship to his creatures, (2) the doctrine of inspiration, (3) the nature of scripture, and (4) the nature of truth (Merrick & Garrett, 2013, p. 22). SUMMARY For the interest of this paper, I chose the first chapter titled “When the Bible speaks, God speaks: The Classic Doctrine of Biblical Inerrancy” (Mohler, 2013, p. 29) by R. Albert Mohler Jr. who asserts that the evangelical faith would become indistinct without the doctrine of inerrancy and thus crucial. Mohler is basically quite straightforward and outspoken about his position that “there is little basis for any hope that evangelicals will remain
I was raised as a Christian all my life. In religion, you just have to trust God and his words. The bible was a message from God written by his apostles. You cannot explain all the miracles that happened because they came from above, but you need reason to understand God’s word. Our conscious is the voice of God.
BIBL 4523-03, Capstone: Christ and His World Fall 2015 Dr. Kooi Exam 1 Explain how the concepts of “myth” and “story” help us to understand the Bible properly. To understand how the concepts of “myth” and “story” help us understand the Bible, first we need to define what a myth and story mean. A myth is a traditional or legendary tale usually concerning some being, human, hero, or event with or without a determinable basis of fact or natural explanation. A story on the other hand is the retelling of an event, whether true or false. Myths through the course of history have been used as the foundation of philosophical and religious thought.
This is a fallacy because nobody can state that the bible is true and people must follow whatever it says in the bible. People believe in the bible because they have their faith in the Holy Father. On the other hand, the contrasts and conflicts between the Bible and science make people cannot accept the Bible as what it is. Brady says, “God spake to the men who wrote the Bible,”(98) this is not true because God did not speak to anyone.
Equally, even with the Old Testament narratives, God often gave the Israelites opportunities to repent and He forgave them. Did Ananias sin deserve death, which did not really allow for repentance or was this a fable by Luke copied from Achan’s story in order to deter members of the community from deception and financial fraud? Troeltsch points out that historical study renders only judgments of probability, of very different grades of probability, from the most likely to the least likely, and that with regards to anything that has been passed on from the past the first task is to measure the degree of probability that is appropriate to it. In doing that, the attitude we take to information given to us by memory and tradition is fundamentally changed.
Scripture is self-attesting, due to the fact that God is sovereign. His words have been declared in Scripture. Therefore; since it is Spirit led then one can truthfully say that Scripture is written, inspired, and approved by God. The entire Word of God gives multiple verses of Scripture that show God’s commandments and words, thereby, showing the evidence within its pages the truth of scripture. Self-attesting renders God’s Word an absolute truth.
There ae sections of the Bible that discuss items such as dinosaurs, hydrology, physics, anthropology, biology and geology (Science and the Bible, 2003). Increasing scientific knowledge has supported the validity of the Bible. The postmodern worldview that does not acknowledge God as the singular source of creation should not be incorporated into a Christian
