Acclaimed novelist, poet, and essayist Leslie Marmon Silko is known for her lyric treatment of Native American subjects. Silko was born in Albuquerque New Mexico, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico. She’s is a mixed Laguna Pueblo, white, and Mexican ancestry, grew up on the Laguna Pueblo reservation in New Mexico. As a Laguna Pueblo writer and one of the key figures in the First Wave of what literary Silko wrote myths, family stories, poetry, and fiction. I think that Canada should try to retain its peacekeeping role. In the past years, Canada has been putting a lot more money and resources into fighting the war in Afghanistan, while they could have been investing in peacekeeping missions (Shephard). Canada should decrease its involvement in violent missions and increase their involvement in peacekeeping missions. They have participated in both in the past (Dyck 207). However, recently, under the leadership of the Harper government, they have primarily been engaging in violent missions (Harper).
In 2010, Arizona S.B. 1070 was an anti-illegal immigration law that was passed to focus on identifying, prosecuting, and deporting undocumented immigrants. Arizona’s law enforcement officials could detain anyone who was suspected of living in the country illegally. In the book “Migra! A History of the U.S Border Patrol, author Kelly Lytle Hernandez describes the history of the U.S border patrol from the 1920s to the end of the twentieth century. Specifically, Hernandez writes about how the border patrol has changed its target or “suspect” from Chinese and European immigrants to Mexican people. When a person fail to appear in court, a judge can issue a bench warrant for their arrest. With the bench warrant law enforcement can make an arrest and take the person into custody anytime. Law enforcement can also actively seek to execute the warrant at a person home or work place. Unfortunately, if they are released with a citation, fingerprints or photo (mugshot) are not taken. However, everyone that’s booked/arrested into county jail has there photo (mugshot) taken, and fingerprints.
One of America’s most controversial issues today is the border between the United States and Mexico. The big part of the issue is due to illegal immigration, which is when foreigners enter the U.S. without an entry or an immigrant visa. President Trump says he has found a solution, otherwise known as the “border wall,” but this will not stop people from wanting a better life. Of course I get why he and others would want to continue the process obviously to keep us safe from terrorists and other dangers of the world, but, to every pro there is a con. Illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S.A. and become citizens because they are heavy workers, want a better life and most importantly they contribute to the U.S. economy. Immigrants simply want to obtain an opportunity to live and work in this great country. With all this in mind it is clear that they deserve a path to citizenship. Countless people say illegal immigrants are damaging the U.S. economy; however, they are contributing immensely by paying their taxes.
The general idea or claim of this argumentative piece is that building a wall in order for the immigrants not to get through has a lot of flaws and won't work as the Congress think it would.
In a low crime or stable neighborhood, the normal approach by law enforcement is being simply visible (Hoover, 2013.) Most homeowners in these type neighborhoods just want to see a police cruiser from time to time. So programs such as a neighbor watch may be appropriate. The patrol officers just need to break away from time to time to conduct a residence check in these areas. What we call high stressed neighborhoods or high crime areas are neighborhoods that have abandoned buildings, overrun by gangs, have issues with drug deals, and prostitution (Hoover, 2013.)
I agree with the argument on both sides because law enforcement. Yes, denying access to private data to catch a criminal has hindered law enforcement to protect its people from terrorist. There should be an agreement among the tech companies and with the government on a law that establish an approach to getting access to private data. The agency as stated before should have a reason and presented with a warrant to access the data. Tech companies should work alongside law enforcement not against it.
