Border Patrol Agent Research Paper

“The Border Patrol State” was written in 1994 by Leslie Marmon Silko. At this time she was living in Tucson, AZ, one of the Border States. Silko writes from a Laguna Pueblo Native American background, mostly writing about the Native American people. She was born right on the outside of the reservation so she was influenced both by her Indian culture and the culture of Albuquerque. This article was published in Yellow Woman and a Beauty of the Spirit: Essays on Native American Life Today, a collection of short stories and articles that talk about her life as a Native American and the racism she has faced. This article was meant for everyone one to read but especially to show those not from these states the injustice that was happening within their own country.

I think them going threw training would be good to both them and the migrants or people in general they bump into. If they got training things like this wouldn't happen as often and also they wouldn't get away with it. Their punishment depends on what the patrol officer did and if their actions were very harmful and lead to serious injury they will loose their jobs and will face further consequences because they have committed a crime so they get no warning just time in jail. They know and are therefor capable of controlling their actions and know what they have done so they will have to face it like everyone else who commits a crime.

There are several stereotypes that are associated with women in Law Enforcement There are many reasons I chose the stereotype that is associated with the profession I chose to pursue once I receive my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. They are considered to be the front line of defense against illegal immigration. The CBP was created in 2003 and has three main principals that they follow. They are protecting the American people, protecting the national economy, and safeguard and manage the U.S. air, land, and maritime borders (CBP.gov). CBP is responsible for patrolling up to 7,000 miles of border that is just on land. In addition to the 7,000 miles of land borders, they also cover up to 95,000 miles of shoreline with the partnership of the United States Coast Guard (CBP.gov 18).
