From examining women voting, children of any race at one school, and even the United States, it is clear that it most definitely necessary to discourage some rules in history, and possibly in today’s world as well. There are rules in society set in place to keep citizens in line and not disrupt the nature of everyday life, but some rules are meant to be provoked. In 1836 Texas declared independence from Mexico. Do you think that Mexico willingly allowed this to happen?
In the novel, “The captured: A True Story of Abduction on the Texas Frontier” written by Scott Zesch narrates the story of the Indian captives to address the experiences of Texas Pioneers. The story of Adolf Korn and the others who were captured by tribes brings forward the different cultures. The book explains a series of kidnapping and how the Indians force the children to adjust to their costumes. Zesch describes what the experiences of those abducted reveal about Native American culture and pioneer culture. The author pinpoints the reasoning as to why the Comanches took captives and portrays how the stories from both the captives and the captors fit into the history of the United States West.
The very rapid growth of the colonies made the Mexican leaders very nervous and insecure. Their attempt to protect the territory by stopping immigration into Texas caused a rebellion. This continuous conflict led to revolution and independence. The Law of April 6, 1830, expressed the Mexican policy of stopping the further colonization of Texas by American settlers. The law proposed to make the empresario contracts that had not been finished yet void and prohibited settlement of immigrants in territory next to their native countries.

Many people came to America to find religious freedom, but they were not as opened minded as some people may think. Each region had its own religion who tended to keep to each other and outside religions were frowned upon. However Maryland’s act of toleration says that no form of Christianity shall be in any way troubled (doc1).
Jean Stuntz adds to the growing literature of southern women in colonial American by examining the lives of Hispanic women in Texas in her article, “Spanish Law and Texas Women in Colonial Texas: 1719-1821.” Stuntz relied on sources such as government documents, archival materials such as disputes, testimony, wills, pleadings, land deeds, and legal records to demonstrate that under colonial laws, Spanish women had rights unlike in other places, the laws were designed to exclude women of color, regardless of their status. In colonial Texas, Hispanic women, including poor women, had rights. Working within the law, they were able to file suits. When filing suits, a woman’s marital status was not mentioned, it was not important according to Stuntz.
Spain's main reason for settlement in Texas was to gain power through gold, glory, land, and religion When a new group of settlers lands in an atypical area, they bring their own knowledge, skills, and beliefs with them. Spain's settlement goal in 1690 was to spread religion to the natives, and the Spanish also wanted to use Texas to keep the French away from expanding to Mexico. Religious Mission The Spanish wanted to convert a group called the Caddo into a catholic group, which did not go as planned due to the Caddo not needing the help of Spanish missions. The Caddo mission failed in 1691, and their independence was protected from being taken over by Spanish beliefs due to their survival skills.
Then, Mexico gained its independence from Spain in the year of 1821. As a new country, Mexico’s government realized that there was an unacceptably small population in Northern Mexico. Therefore, Mexican officials decided to invite Americans to Texas by offering non-taxed land in the hope of increasing the population. Americans could only move to Texas if they became Mexican citizens, joined the Catholic church, and bring no slaves. (Roden, 317)
Throughout the 19th century, the United States’ population significantly increased. Mexico looked towards the United State’s booming population and offered Stephen Austin the prospect of colonizing the “old three-hundred” American families in present-day Texas in order to populate the otherwise desolate region. Mexican officials, however, weren’t aware of the implications such colonization would have on the union’s longevity. In spite of Mexican provisions requiring colonists to become “Mexicanized” and be non-slave owning catholics, many Texans did not follow such terms facilitating the development of an independent Texan-American identity ultimately culminating in the Texan Revolution. After the Texan Revolution, Texas applied for statehood in the United States raising questions as to how such expansionism might upset the balance of free to slave states.
European colonization in Texas started in 1689. It was ordered by St. Francis in order for Spain to spread Christianity, Spanish culture and also to establish control. This era began with missions and presidios. They were protected using presidios. A presidio was originally built for protecting travel on railways but later used for protecting Spanish missions and settlements.

As you could imagine, this angered the already existing American immigrants, because that meant that they could not bring relatives along so that they could move to Texas as well.

The framers of the Texas Executive established a system that was designed to check the powers of the government. As opposed to the US Constitution that vested the power of the executive in the president of the nation (Berry, 1385), the Texas Constitution sought to ensure that the state did not have the excess powers. As such, they came up with a plural system where a variety of individuals make up the executive branch of the state (Texas State Government at a Glance). While the governor of the state remains as the highest ranking officials in the state, they hold the least of powers in the plural system.
Something that had one of the biggest impacts on the world as it is today is colonization. There’s no way that the world we live in would be the same without it. From colonization, a multitude of good things came out of it, such as wealth for many nations, new land discovered, and colonies established. However, all of those things came at a price to others. The negatives of colonization affected the Native Americans (North, South, and Central America) and the Africans.
While the colonization of the America’s was negative for many reasons such as the spread of illnesses, and the forcing of religion upon natives, it was also beneficial to the Native’s because it allowed them to have better weapons and to have different foods and goods in their lives. The Europeans exposed the Natives to many new diseases once they colonized the new areas they discovered. The Europeans greatly impacted the family life and religion of the inhabitants of the areas they found. There was also a lot of exchange going on during the conquest of the Americas because the Natives were excited by the new gadgets they had never seen before that the Europeans brought over.
