As the world of global exploration and colonization grew, many powerful European empires set out to see what the New World had in store for them. Each empire had their own individual agendas and incentives for colonization. This led to the many differences between methods of colonization and exploration in every colony and region. The Atlantic World portrayed these contrasts between the Spanish, French, Dutch and British empires. However, the British settlements along the Eastern seaboard differed the most from those of other empires because there were no established policies or methods in British colonization, which led to differences in the economics and culture of each colony depending on who settled it.
Exam Paper 1 In what ways did the American West of the late nineteenth century represent a contrast to the East? In what ways did the two regions resemble each other?
Spanish conquers never considered colonize California because the peninsula did not fulfill their ambitions. The expedition leaded by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542 was just the beginning of future expeditions to the northwest of America; in this occasion, Cabrillo sail around the Baja and proclaimed the land as Spain propriety. One inconvenient found in Cabrillo's exploration was the lack of gold and precious metals in California. Also, after this voyage, the Spanish conquers were discouraged to explore California for the long and perilous journeys, where most of the sailors died due to food shortage and, coupled with this, the spread of diseases. Another reason to not colonized California was that the Spaniards were not interested in establish
XV century inaugurated the start of the European Expansion with Portugal and Spain being the first most successful countries in discovering and colonizing new lands. Spanish colonization of America, without any doubt, was one of the most important events of that period. Stories about lands with many wonderful goods, spices, and other riches encouraged European men, who wanted to enrich themselves and find a better life over the sea, to travel and explore, claiming new lands to become dominions of the sponsoring party, in this case, the Crown of Spain. Christopher Columbus’ first voyage, backed by Queen Isabella of Castile, aimed to find a route to Asia through the West, but was not successful in its goal. However, the result of this unprecedented voyage was more than revolutionary: it discovered the New World.

Jamestown may have prospered, given proper usage of time and energy. The colonists of Jamestown have made many mistakes, which led to the downfall of Jamestown. Many were not prepared to colonize. If changes were made to the types of people sent, location, supplies sent, government and plans of growth, Jamestown surely would have done much better. With these changes, the outcome of colonizing in Jamestown would have been much easier and prosperous.
The Jamestown settlement was one of the harshest experiences for many of the people on that voyage and it was led by Bartholomew Gosnold. If one family member owned a big section of land the family would often fight over the claim on the land. The settlers lost all of their clean water supply and that caused them to have to drink salt water that carried diseases and illness. Many settlers could not handle the harsh weather. They did not know how to dress for the weather and could not find food.
In Texas history, there have been some remarkable changes in the way the state was run, on the contrary, there has also been some not so remarkable political changes that play a major roll on Texas as we know it. All the changes made been recorded on to a document known as “The Constitution”. This is a legal document that establishes legal power and limitations to the state, without it there would be no structure nor authority. This document has been a constant debate, a fight for power, and life changer for the citizen of the state. Till this day Little has changed.
The Spanish exploration and colonisation made both a positive and negative impact on Latin America. The arrival of the Spanish explorers to the new world made a big change and they are the reason Latin America looks the way it does today. However these people were ruthless and were the tyrants of the new world. One of Spain’s major foreign policy objectives since the advent of democracy has been to increase its influence in Latin America. Spain has had interest in this area due to historical ties and a common linguistic, cultural and religious heritage (Countrystudies.us, 2017).
In 1512, a watershed moment in history occurred: the Portuguese became the first European power to come across the Indonesian Archipelago. What had been found could not be unfound; European contact with the East Indies and mainland Southeast Asia would be a defining force in shaping the region for the last half of the millennium. In the next century, the British East India Company (EIC) and Dutch East India Company (VOC) were established to facilitate trade between Europe and Asia. Around the same time as the "discovery" of modern-day Indonesia, Ferdinand Magellan arrived in the Philippines and declared it a colony on the behalf of the Spanish Crown. Prior to European arrival, the people of Southeast Asia were no stranger to sea trade.

Democracy is a form of government in which power lies with the people. This means that the people of the said community can either rule directly or indirectly by electing officials to make decisions for the betterment of the people. Democracy is an aspect that can be included in many different governments including, republics, monarchies, and theocracies. In America today, democracy is something we take pride in. This form of government had to start somewhere, however, and ideas of democracy can be shown in many early documents written by some of the first peoples to colonize the Americas.
