The idea of denial lies in both the Allegory of the Cave and Fahrenheit 451. They both harness a huge theme of disbelief that shines in multiple characters. In Allegory of the Cave, a free prisoner runs back to the cave after being exposed to beyond the cave since it would take some time to get used to outside of the false reality: “Don’t you think he’d be bewildered and would think that there was more reality in what he’d been seeing before than in what he was being shown now?”. The denial in the actual reality shows that the prisoner has more faith in the false reality he has been always been living for a bit. Once seen they are often never compared because they appear unassociated, but sometimes if given a second thought similarities can be found. Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”is about prisoners in a cave, and Ray Bradbury’s book “Fahrenheit 451” is about burning books. So what do they have in common?
Significant References in Fahrenheit 451 As Dave Attell once said, “You know, men and women are a lot alike in certain situations. Like when they’re both on fire-they’re exactly alike.” Attell’s quote ties in perfectly with Fahrenheit 451 regarding the novel’s futuristic society. Dystopian worlds are shown as worst case scenarios worlds, like for example the city was very overpopulated and polluted. These are the complete opposite of a Utopian world.

In Ray Bradbury's “Fahrenheit 451”, the character Guy Montag is similar to the prisoner in “The Allegory of the Cave” because, Montag and the Prisoner were brought into the world with forced opinions and thoughts that shaped how they feel and think. Both Montag and the prisoner had nothing to look back on that showed a different opinion, so they were both stuck to believe anyone at face-value. These forced opinions however, were later changed after they were revealed by a character (the old man or Faber) and caused them to shed a whole new set of skin.
“The Allegory of the Cave” by Plato, An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen, and A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt all have in common a person that is challenged by a group of people on their beliefs, ideas, as well as knowledge. In “The Allegory of the Cave”, one person is challenged based on his knowledge about the world outside the cave. Next, An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen, Dr. Thomas Stockmann is challenged by the people of his town on his belies of the water being contaminated that later is proven to be true because he sends a sample to be tested. Lastly, A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt, Thomas More is challenged by King Henry and his followers on his idea of divorce because he is dedicated to the Catholic Church which doesn’t approve of King Henry divorce. Furthermore, I believe Dr. Thomas Stockmann is a greater hero than Thomas More.
In Ray Bradbury and Suzanne Collins’s dystopian novels Fahrenheit 451 and The Hunger Games, their protagonists Guy Montag and Katniss Everdeen shared evident similarities. If closely looked at further, a couple of differences can be spotted as well. Although one may notice a few differences between the protagonists in Fahrenheit 451 and The Hunger Games, there are actually more similarities than one may realize, such as both protagonists conform to the dystopian society in the beginning but object to it in the end, both create alliances along the way, and they are both confused about their relationships. In the two dystopian novels Fahrenheit 451 and The Hunger Games, their protagonists Guy Montag and Katniss Everdeen do have a couple of differences.

The differences and similarities between the book’s society and our modern day society really bulged out at me while I was reading the book ‘Fahrenheit 451’. In Fahrenheit 451, books are banned. And instead of having firemen that put out fire, the firemen start the fire to burn down books and houses. There are many differences and similarities between our modern day society and the the society in the book ‘Fahrenheit 451’. Such as our Government, Technology, and Behavior.
First off, one rhetoric that " The Allegory of the Cave" has is a metaphor. A metaphor is comparing two unlike things. The focal thought is, a few detainees were bolted into a give in and the couldn't escape. It speaks to that how much freedom is worth. In the event that you never had an opportunity to see the outside world, you just can envision what it resembles.
Allegory of the Cave, a short story by renowned philosopher Plato, describes the life of prisoners chained inside of a cave where all the knowledge they receive is given by unknown strangers behind them. Likewise, Stranger Than Fiction, a movie written by Zach Helm, illustrates an IRS auditor, Harold Crick, that is shackled by his mundane lifestyle and also has an embodied voice that seems to be controlling his life. The movie goes on to describe his arduous journey toward finding the woman behind the voice, which ultimately gives him a new perspective on life. Zach Helm’s screenplay Stranger Than Fiction and Plato’s Allegory of the Cave both describe the experience of a person escaping limited perspective darkness and discovering a more complex world than they had previously thought existed.
Ray Bradbury born in 1920 to a middle class family. Bradbury went on to write and publish over five hundred pieces of literature. One of the novels he wrote was Fahrenheit 451, where he attempted to predict what the United States of America would look like in the future. The novel illustrates the idea of a totalitarian government and society burning books to stop the spread of knowledge, by following the development of the main character Guy Montag. Furthermore, the novel bring up the idea of Plato’s cave, in which Montag attempts to overcome the ideas of the society he grew up around.
Plato tells us that the prisoners are confused on their emergence from the cave and that the prisoners’ will be blinded once they had been freed from the cave. After a period of time they will adjust their eyesight and begin to understand the true reality that the world poses. The stubbornness to develop a different perspective is seen in much of today’s society. The allegory of the cave is an understanding of what the true world is and how many people never see it because of their views of the society they are raised in.
