The bottle of potion suggests the theme of love vs. hate, death, and grief in the play. Romeo, one of the main characters, is a very good looking, smart, and sympathetic person. While in love with Juliet, he finds himself in a mess. Romeo got the news of Juliet's death back in Verona. Romeo is devastated and cannot live without his wife, Juliet.
Love at first sight is the most dangerous type of love. The long story of “Romeo and Juliet” is about a boy falling in love, Romeo with a girl, Juliet. They want to be together but cannot because of their families conflicts. Regardless of this they will not let this affect them and try getting together behind their families backs. Later on Romeo gets banished and they get separated but they come up with a plan.
Suffering is an innate part of the human condition. Despite age, race, gender, and social standing everyone experiences the trauma. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, some characters such as Romeo and Tybalt serve as instruments of suffering for others. Among the many characters in this story two stand out, Tybalt Capulet and Romeo Montague. Tybalt is a hot-tempered Capulet who is known for his hatred toward the Montagues.
Romeo's new love interest is Juliet, as they dance without knowing each others identity, they kiss. This is an example that Romeo does not truly love Juliet because instead of Romeo learning about who she is and what her personality is, he falls in love with what she looks like.
In particular, Romeo displays this hasty flaw when he reacts to Mercutio’s death by immediately hunting down and killing Tybalt. His instantaneous reaction to kill Paris during their encounter at the family tomb exhibits this flaw as well. On top of these actions, Romeo’s infatuation with Rosaline is introduced very early on in the play, but once he meets Juliet he hastily forgets of his prior love: “Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, so soon forsaken? Young men’s love then not truly lies in their hearts, but in their eyes.” (2.3.67-70).
In Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet are burdened by forbidden love and death is the only way they can be together. Their love is torn between the feuding families of the Montagues and the Capulets and death is the only solution to relinquish their lives for each other. Because of this, death is the hero while love is the villain. In Act I Scene V, Romeo says, “Is she a Capulet?
Friar Lawrence had a strong two examples that affected the relationship between the lovers. For example, Friar Lawrence gave Juliet a potion that will fake her death but really she’s still alive she’s just got “No warmth, no breath” and that “shall testify thou livest”. (4.1.2464) When Friar Lawrence suggested that she should take this potion, in his little speech he mentions that she be close to dead to fool everyone. That even means Romeo in the most unfortunate times. When Friar Lawrence was speaking with Juliet he also planned to send letters to dear Romeo who had been staying in Mantua.
Is love at first sight? Is love based on looks? Falling in love at such young age really real ways to love at all? Common motifs of books show characters often falling in love at a young age. In Romeo and Juliet, the Shakespearean tragedy, it is proved that it is not.

In Act III, Scene Five of the play, Lady Capulet finds Juliet weeping in her quarters. When she asks Juliet why she is crying, Juliet simply states: “Madam, I am not well.” Lady Capulet takes this as a sign that Juliet is weeping over her cousin’s death, even though Juliet neither affirms nor denies that she cries for Tybalt.
The night before the party where Romeo and Juliet met, Romeo had been crying over his ex girlfriend Rosaline. However, after meeting Juliet he was not upset at all about Rosaline. When asked by his pastor if he had been with Rosaline all night, Romeo stated “With Rosaline, father? No, I have forgotten that girl and all the sadness she brought me”(Shakespeare). Friar Lawrence responded with “Have you given up so quickly on Rosaline, whom you loved so much?
“O Romeo, Romeo, wherefor art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name. Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I’ll no longer be a Capulet.” In their eyes, as well as many others, love comes above all else. Two forbidden lovers do whatever they can to be together.
Romeo and Juliet’s relationship has often been romanticized as being authentic while his love for Rosaline has been depicted as being a superficial infatuation. This is what many die-hard romantics want to believe; however, the text represents Romeo’s love for Rosaline as a genuine one—at least on Romeo’s part. In the beginning of the play, Romeo lashes out at love’s cruelty as do many heartbroken individuals. In Act I Scene I, the depressed Romeo describes love as a deadly poison, a smoke, a swollen sea, a madness, and a choking gall. When he describes love as a “smoke,” this evokes images of a choking black cloud of doom.
