World war one was one of the most gruesome wars in all of humanity's history. It was caused by four major factors. First was the aggressive nationalism of each country, second was the the intense love for militarism by each nation, third was the making of alliances between nations in case of war, finally the event that caused a declaration of war was the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand. In 1914-1918 there was a large war with many countries, peace was not a consideration. Not only did grown men were forced to fight in the war but boys that just graduated high school were forced, and died in war. “ what was the underlying cause of world war I?” one of the major cause of the war was militarism out of one of the four. The other three ar alliances, imperialism, and nationalism, but i 'm only walking about three of them, not nationalism.

In July 28, 1914 to November 11,1918 World War 1 took place where over 17 million lives were lost and over 20 million wounded soldiers. This war was between Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States against Germany, and Austria-Hungary. The main cause of World War 1 was militarism where many European countries kept increasing their size of their army and navy without a war going on.

There were a variety of underlying causes in World War I. They were militarism, alliances, nationalism, and a mix of imperialism. Before the war Nations started to build up their arms (DBQ: What Were the Underlying Causes of World War 1, 2010, Doc 7) making a competition for dominance, and alliances are formed making powerful armies. Nations produced propaganda infuriating the citizens and giving the pride in their nation which led to nationalism.

World War 1 was one of the most horrendous, life shifting wars in history that began in Europe and lasted for 4 years (1914 - 1918) besides affecting 9 million lives. The world was so destructive due to the intensity of the fighting and the deadly weapons. It was the first war in history to involve too many countries, and as a result, World War 1 became known as the Great War. In my opinion, nationalism wasn’t the main cause of the war.

WWI (1914-1918) was a disastrous conflict between two sides - the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. It resulted in the victory of the Allies. There were plenty of Central Powers weaknesses, the Schlieffen plan, weak allies of Germany and their hard economic situation at the end of the WWI. However, it was not only due to these weaknesses, Allied Powers had a few strengths, that made them won. The most important of these are : greater army, control of the sea and support of the USA since 1917, while Germany was already running out of supplies and soldiers.

As many people would agree on, the biggest game changer in technology is the machinegun, as this powerful work of art managed to single handedly change the layout of war, and introduced trench warfare as necessary tactic in World War 1. The machine gun would fire out 600 rounds per minute. But the machinegun was the only major improvement as all the other advances in technology were flawed or didn’t have much of an impact for example, tanks. The introduction of tanks to ground warfare was supposed to be revolutionary. This wasn’t precisely the case since the tanks would have troubles when maneuvering through rough terrain and would easily break down. Heavy artillery would be a big back up since 70% of all men in war were killed by heavy artillery, although efficient at killing men, artillery was not precise enough to destroy neither trenches nor bunkers, another

There are five major causes to World War I, militarism, alliances, nationalism, imperialism, and the spark that ignited the war; the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. The European powers did not make any active effort for more internationalist/cooperative policy that would have been the antithesis for the growing causes of World War I. It would only be after World War II and to some extent the European Union that would encourage Europeans to work together instead of turning the continent into a wasteland every few decades.

World War One was a war unlike any other before or after; as time went on, countries from all around the world were dragged into European affairs, which led to powers exhausting resources to the fullest extent. Total War required all members of society to contribute and take on jobs of much significance that had lasting effects on culture. Throughout World War One both soldiers and civilians endured similar sufferings; however, the roles of each were significantly different from one another and they were affected by the war in various ways.

The progressive reform that had the greatest impact on American society was the 18th Amendment which made the producing, transporting, or selling of alcohol prohibited. It all began when the Anti-Saloon party gained an advantage during World War I. Women who began these reforms gained support because of their influence on the workforce. If the women had not helped by working men’s jobs during the war, it would not have been as easy. Another aspect of the war that contributed to the amendment's publication was the limited resources available. Since alcohol was made of food sources, many saw it as a waste of food supply that could have been used for “our boys at war”. Throughout America’s history of war, weaponry has played a major factor in conflict. Weapons were improved for the benefit of the American soldiers. Since American war instruments have been improved in technology, the U.S was able to exceed over their opponents in war from the Colonial Era to the Antebellum Era. The usage of improved weaponry was a major advantage for the United States. Seeing that technology in weaponry has been advanced throughout the years, the advantages that America had possessed remains to be the biggest factor in conflict from the Colonial, American Revolution, Early Republic, and Antebellum Eras.

World War Two was a war very different from World War One; new technology developed during World War Two made the previous world war look ancient and primitive. With the start of World War Two, man-on-man combat was a thing of the past, as advanced technology such as airplanes became necessarily dominant. Countries were fighting to get ahead of each other in technology, as the more technologically advanced the opponent was, the greater the advantage they had. The development of technology grew exponentially, as any affluent country that even began to lag behind industrially was utterly demolished. Therefore, because the war was dependent on the use of highly-advanced machinery and devastating weapons, the development of technology was exceedingly

The many different causes of World War 1 were quite brief with excruciating fatalities. There were many innocent people who were just living a regular life didn’t know what was about to hit them. People like to say that there were five different causes of World war 1. Those causes were nationalism, imperialism, militarism, alliancism, and assassination. There were a variety of different wars between the British, Europe, United States, etc. Peace and liberty during this time of war was not an option. World war 1 changed the world we live in today and will forever be one of the deadliest, most fierce wars in all of history.
