World War One and World War Two were both conflicts which involved Germany, due to the clashes among opposing alliances of empires. Repeating rifles and machine guns were used extensively in World War One and its modern version were used in World War Two creating a more deadly impact. Also, the use of planes played a minor role in World War, but became the prevailing force within World War Two. Although there were similarities, there were major differences in warfare; in World War One soldiers fought from lines of trenches and were supported by artillery, machine guns, infantry assault, early aeroplanes, tanks and poisonous gas. War broke out in 1914 due to forces that had been building up in Europe for years. While the Allies blamed Germany for the war too harshly, its actions certainly did directly contribute to World War I, as did those of Austria Hungary. However, each country involved fostered militarism in their country, and became in entrenched in the web of alliances and race for imperial power, all causes of the environment that led to the Great War. Therefore, it could be said that all European countries were responsible, in part, for World War I, as reflected in Documents 5, 6, and 7.
The expansion of armies and militarism was a leading cause of World War 1. Although several forces created tension among the nations of Europe, militarism was the most significant for pushing countries into war. Each country that fought in the war was planning on obtaining better military strength and forces. Militarism would allow countries to develop, and if they were lucky enough, they would acquire more land. Milltirims also united the country as a whole.

Although multiple powerful nations created alliances with each other, there were severe land stalemates. Until Britain leaked a telegram from Germany to Mexico, asking Mexico to ally with them for Germany to invade the United States.
The progressive reform that had the greatest impact on American society was the 18th Amendment which made the producing, transporting, or selling of alcohol prohibited. It all began when the Anti-Saloon party gained an advantage during World War I. Women who began these reforms gained support because of their influence on the workforce. If the women had not helped by working men’s jobs during the war, it would not have been as easy. Another aspect of the war that contributed to the amendment's publication was the limited resources available. Since alcohol was made of food sources, many saw it as a waste of food supply that could have been used for “our boys at war”.
During World War I many changes were occurring in the United States. The War also marked the start of new ideas and concepts that would deeply affect the War and the outcome of it. Three things that strongly affected the United States and their participation in the war are; propaganda, technology, and warfare. Propaganda was not used as much until World War I. Propaganda was used as a weapon by the United states. The use of propaganda was used as a tactic to encourage the war.
World War Two was a war very different from World War One; new technology developed during World War Two made the previous world war look ancient and primitive. With the start of World War Two, man-on-man combat was a thing of the past, as advanced technology such as airplanes became necessarily dominant. Countries were fighting to get ahead of each other in technology, as the more technologically advanced the opponent was, the greater the advantage they had. The development of technology grew exponentially, as any affluent country that even began to lag behind industrially was utterly demolished. There were a variety of underlying causes in World War I. They were militarism, alliances, nationalism, and a mix of imperialism. Before the war Nations started to build up their arms (DBQ: What Were the Underlying Causes of World War 1, 2010, Doc 7) making a competition for dominance, and alliances are formed making powerful armies. Nations produced propaganda infuriating the citizens and giving the pride in their nation which led to nationalism. Advancements in Weaponry Throughout America’s history of war, weaponry has played a major factor in conflict. Weapons were improved for the benefit of the American soldiers. Since American war instruments have been improved in technology, the U.S was able to exceed over their opponents in war from the Colonial Era to the Antebellum Era. The usage of improved weaponry was a major advantage for the United States.
World War I is often associated with trench Warfare and battles on the land, with very little thought given to the importance of naval warfare. Beginning with the Anglo-German Naval Race (1898-1912), Germany began building up their High Seas Fleet to challenge the Grand Fleet (“Anglo-German Naval Race”). Britain had been the World’s only international naval superpower for well over 100 years until Germany decided to challenge their dominance. Shortly after the start of World War I, the Anglo-French Naval Convention (1914) was signed, which greatly shaped Allied naval strategy. In 1914, Britain put a distant blockade on Germany, which allowed them to control exits from the North Sea and damaged both Germany’s economy and War effort (Roskill 4: 533).
Compare and contrast strategy (incl. technology/air power/naval power/land power) between WW1 and WW2. The use of air power as a strategy of war was highly contingent on the development of technology and became more and more significant to wars as technology developed. When compared to World War I, the second world war saw an improvement of technological capacities, leading to an enhanced production of aerial power along with the emergence of new tactics and strategies of war.
WWI (1914-1918) was a disastrous conflict between two sides - the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. It resulted in the victory of the Allies. There were plenty of Central Powers weaknesses, the Schlieffen plan, weak allies of Germany and their hard economic situation at the end of the WWI. However, it was not only due to these weaknesses, Allied Powers had a few strengths, that made them won. The most important of these are : greater army, control of the sea and support of the USA since 1917, while Germany was already running out of supplies and soldiers.
The causes of World War I The many different causes of World War 1 were quite brief with excruciating fatalities. There were many innocent people who were just living a regular life didn’t know what was about to hit them. People like to say that there were five different causes of World war 1. Those causes were nationalism, imperialism, militarism, alliancism, and assassination.
