I disagree with Nicholas Carr’s argument that IT doesn’t matter and his assertion that IT no longer gives a company a competitive advantage over their competition. He offered some clarification to his argument in which he stated that IT has become so commoditized much like using electricity or transportation, which is available for everyday public use and doesn’t afford a company any competitive advantage over their competition.
Just because nearly every business, large or small uses information technology doesn’t mean that it’s use is limited and cannot be further developed or tailored to the specific uses of that company or their customers.
