Whitney Houston was an amazing person. She was very talented and had a beautiful and amazing voice. She inspired many many people from all over the world to give them dreams that one day they might grow to be a big star just like she was. She won many awards in her career, and in public she showed she had a happy life. But there where secrets. This paper is all about Whitney Houston's life. Whitney’s middle life or adult life, there was a good bit that happened. When she signed with Arstia in 1983, a couple months later in the same year she made her first tv appearance and appeared many times on MTV (Heppermann 26). The more she started performing and the more the word got out, she started going on tours, you know, like many famous singers do, but there was one little wrinkle. Her mother Cissy didn’t like what Whitney’s managers wanted her to wear, she said it was too inappropriate, so her mother started picking her stage outfits and help with her modeling (Heppermann 33). Although she was a very famous singer and loved the attention, sometimes she just wanted to be a normal person who can walk the streets with cameras all up in her face, so one afternoon, she decided she wanted to go to the movies, and this is where she found her first love.. It started off kinda bumpy but the more they hang out and the more parties they invited each other to, the closer they got and the more “feelings” they got for each other (Heppermann 44). She got happily married to a man named Bobby Brown on July 18, 1992. (Heppermann 44, 45). She had 1 child and it was a girl named Bobbi Kristina Brown, about a year later after Whitney’s and Bobby’s marriage (Heppermann 67). Whitney’s marriage with Bobby seemed good in public, there was some secrets that got out about them. When Whitney began to grow, her husband got a little jealous, so he started selling more copies of Whitney's work to get himself famous as well. Not only that, but they soon latter got a divorce because he was always drinking, doing drugs and having affairs with other women (heppermann 70, 71). Unfortunately, it turns out that Whitney would often do drugs with him, which got her in trouble a couple months latter. After all that she had gone through her life, whitney seemed to be having a comeback by releasing another song which let her feelings go called "I Look To You" and as always it was on top of the charts. She went back to going on tours but her performs were not that great because she start wobbling which would cause fans to leave the show before it ended. That wasn't the end to it, she would pull out of concerts and other performances due to poor health. She was continuing to get clean, so she decided to be another movie name "Sparkle" which would the last movie Whiney would starring in before she died. Whitney died in a Beverly Hills at the young age of 48 years old because of accidental drowning due to the use of drugs.

Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary Indiana. He was born to Joseph Walter and Katherine Jackson. Growing up Michael was teased for how he looked; he was teased so badly by his father he cried daily. At the age of fourteen he grew a little in height, however people still though of his as a “cute” little kid. As if growing up in teenage struggles was not enough, Michael’s skin broke out in a terrible case of acne.
All of her albums sold out in large numbers, making Selena successful with her music. I look up to Selena Quintanilla-Perez as my role model. It took a lot of hard work and courage for her to become a successful Mexican-American artist. As a Mexican-American woman, she broke barriers and made recording history with her music. She changed Latino music by combining different genres in her music to connect with other cultures besides her own.

Jennifer was born in New York on July 24, 1969.(Hill 60).Jennifer Lopez is important for the reason that not only was she a great actress, but she succeeded to be an astonishing singer. Often referred to as "The First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald was one of the most popular female jazz singers in the United States. Throughout her career, Ella was awarded thirteen Grammys and sold over 40 million albums. With a voice that not only encompassed a large range, but a dynamic and powerful sound, Ella could sing almost anything from scatting to the popular tunes of her day. She performed in the top venues all around the world to packed houses, with audiences as diverse as the music she created. Ella came from a small town and impoverished family, but through her talent and determination, skyrocketed to fame creating a legacy that has withstood the sands of time.
She was arrested in 1947 for possession of heroin and pleaded with the court to be sent to a rehabilitation center for help with her debilitating drug problems. She was arrested several more times after her rehabilitation and her cabaret license was revoked by the courts preventing her from working in any Harlem nightclub selling alcohol. After the death of her mother in 1945 her heroin addiction was out of control.4 By the 1950’s she was still denied a license to perform in clubs serving alcohol and this was a major turning point in her career. She was still recording and performing but after the death of her good friend Lester Young in 1959 she had nothing left to keep her together. Even though she asked she was not allowed to sing at Young’s funeral and this devastated her.
Billie Holiday is one of the most influential jazz singers of her time. Her attitude, determination and most of all her music inspired artists throughout time and inspired major social change. Throughout her lifetime she explored the world of jazz, her identity, and how far the limits of her talent would take her. She exchanged her poor life, full of drugs and scandal for a life of performing the arts and showcasing her talents and abilities. Her incredible determination led her to do what she loved regardless of what anyone thought , which led to her inciting major social exchange; moving black suffering into white consciousness.
III. a. Maya Angelou was an avid writer, speaker, activist and teacher. As a result of the many hardships that she suffered while growing up as a poor black woman in the south she has used her own experiences as the subject matter of her written work. In doing this she effectively shows how she was able to overcome her personal obstacles. Her autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1970) tells the story of her life and how she overcame and moved forward triumphantly in spite of her circumstances.
She would look in the mirror and panic because she was unsure of herself. She was a model, singer, and actress. She had so much talent and she put it to use. She used her talents to go places and make a career for herself. She had many iconic moments in her career and even after her death these moments are still seen today.
The strength of Whitney was not only her vocal performance, but also her acting. Therefore, Whitney decided to explore her career as an actress. In 1992 she screened in the "The Bodyguard" as the leading role. She also wrote the soundtrack “I Will Always Love You”, which became the best-selling song in history, which earned her a Grammy award. According to Forbes Magazine Whitney was the third highest earning female entertainer from 1993-1994.
