Everywhere we go there is a place in time and space that we can find hatred and evil that surrounds us but in between that hatred we can still find love and gratitude that persevered that hate which is kindness. I will be comparing the book Night and the article Jakob's story in the theme of kindness and Hate and will be discussing where these events occur followed by their meaning . In the setting of Hate one can still find kindness All throughout the book Night by Elie Weisel there are many examples of kindness in a setting of hate. We can see this by the example of the quote “I felt a cool hand wiping the blood from my forehead.
Compassion in the Camp Night by Elie Wiesel is a story about himself when his family was sent to a concentration camp. He and his family go through life or death situations. Throughout the book, Elie explains the horror of concentration camps and how they affect emotions. In this book,Wiesel shows how relationships change during tough times. One of the relationships that changes is with his father.
Compassion is a feeling of wanting to help someone who is sick, hungry, in trouble. These three factors are important throughout the book, I chose prompt 1. In the story Night by Elie Wiesel compassion plays a key role in the survival of Elie and the Jews in the concentration camp with him. The author Elie Wiesel’s view on compassion changes throughout the story. In the beginning Elie shows compassion to others and helps them survive during rough times.
For most people, you have a feeling or need to help others. When someone is bleeding or hurt you wouldn’t just leave them. Caring for others and being compassionate comes naturally to most. Despite how most people would react it’s not what Elie had witnessed. Forced out of the Ghettos, thrown into a train full of people where you couldn’t move or sit.
Lastly, basic necessities can overpower the importance of family. In the novel, many characters portray the act of selfishness to ensure their own safety instead of the safety of others. There are moments when Elie hides behind others in order to ensure his own safety.
Victim of Isis are experiencing death, suffering, and with no hope in sight. But the horrific events was not happening in the middle east during present times, but during world war II in Germany. In the book Night, Elie Wiesel explains his experiences during the holocaust. Elie Wiesel wrote this book so he can inform people who weren’t there or didn’t know what happened to prevent this from happening again. Elie Wiesel assert this by show loss of faith, brutality and suffering Elie Wiesel, for a period of time of his life, experienced many things witnessing many deaths and malnourishment for years.
In the nonfiction novel Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie battles an internal conflict of his actions whether he should help his family or not. Elie ultimately resolves this conflict by not taking part in helping his family at all in the end; however this choice illustrates his true character as both caring and stoic. Elie’s decision to care about his family before he also reveals the universal theme that he should help himself before others. Elie is willing to obey the concentration camp rules and discard his own thoughts and he has to an internal conflict that he has to overcome and obey the rules and not be scared.
In the beginning, Elie and his father serve as a source of support and empathy for each other. At this point they don’t yet know the full devastation of what’s going on, and possess a sense of hope. They spend a lot of this portion confused, and only progressively become more fearful. After arriving at the camp, however, the real fear sets in.
Elie Wiesel, the author of Night, describes the horrors of focusing on your own survival. Certain acts provoke inhumane acts throughout the ordeal. A central theme in Night is, even though it’s difficult, people should value compassion over their own survival. For instance, the evil of a lack of compassion affects thousands of prisoner lives.
As Elie and his fellow prisoners endure unimaginable suffering and hardship, they are forced to confront their own capacity for empathy and compassion. The dehumanization of the prisoners by their captors serves as a powerful indictment of the ways in which humans can lose their sense of empathy and compassion in the pursuit of power and control. Yet, even in the most dire circumstances, Elie finds moments of connection and solidarity with his fellow prisoners, reminding us of the importance of maintaining our humanity in the face of adversity. Another aspect of being human that is explored in “Night” is the struggle for survival. As Elie and his father fight to survive in the face of starvation, exhaustion and brutality, they are forced to confront their own mortality and the fragility of human life.
In life everyone has been through a dark moment that they thought they could not get through but now they realized that they can get through anything that they put their mind to. What they do not realize is that they are not the only ones going through it. There is always someone else going through the same thing. You should never be ungrateful because you never know when something good may come around. Elie Wiesel was talking about compassion because he wanted to let people know how he got through the Holocaust.

Weisel was a younger boy when him and his family were put into the concentration camps due to being Jewish. These camps are a well-known story in history because the acts that were committed were so inhumane that they have never been forgotten. Most of the time, when we hear about these camps, we hear of only the things that took place rather than the story being told by someone who had to experience the life of a prisoner.
Compassion is an extremely powerful emotion. It’s when you help someone get through an awful time in their life. Usually if it’s someone or something you, love you can show compassion towards it, You’ll end up putting an extreme amount of love and compassion into something you care about. If your loved one is going through an event you’ve gone through, you can empathize with them and connect. Showing love and compassion can let other people know what kind of person you are.
The Modern Day Holocaust Society needs to realize that indifference is a major problem in the world. One reason indifference needs to be reduced is that studies show that it can cause depression or lack of motivation There is people who do not care about the homeless four year old boy sitting on the side of the street weighing less than 30 pounds. Indifference is causing major problems around the world. Many people are being killed, starved or shunned upon by others because someone is not as good as them.
To find a man who has not experienced suffering is impossible; to have man without hardship is equally unfeasible. Such trials are a part of life and assert that one is alive by shaping one’s character. In the autobiographical memoir Night by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, this molding is depicted through Elie’s transformation concerning his identity, faith, and perspective. As a young boy, Elie and his fellow neighbors of Sighet, Romania were sent to Auschwitz, a macabre concentration camp with the sole motive of torturing and killing Jews like himself. There, Elie experiences unimaginable suffering, and upon liberation a year later, leaves as a transformed person.
