Oral Presentation on Case studies Case Study 1- Working Environment In the past, employers would violate the rights of employees so legislation was passed in South Africa that protected the human rights of employees that we being unfairly treated. XYZ Publishing is a company within South Africa and it therefore has to run its business in accordance with the laws of the country. Before an employee can be dismissed from work, there is a procedure that the employer must follow. According to the Labour Relations Act No. 66 of 1995, an employee can be dismissed due to a number of reasons such as misconduct, this occurs when an employee uses inappropriate language in the workplace, steals from the business or is not punctual. Misconduct can also be when an employee defies an order from a superior, this is called insubordination and is negative reflection of the employees work ethic. An employee can also be dismissed due to operational reasons such as retrenchment, this means the company is no longer able to pay the employee. Dismissal due to incapacity occurs when the employee is no longer capable of doing his job. The decrease in sales also means the cash received from debtors decreases. In April the business received R28 500 and it decreased to R21 750 in June. The credit sales decreased from R33 750 in April to R16 875 in June. Less cash was received from debtors, which means less money in the bank to pay creditors. The payment to creditors is increasing each month even though less stock is sold. The business does not receive a discount from its suppliers, this means it is not always able to pay the full amount
