Born as Betty Marion White on January 17, 1922 in Illinois, her family moved to Los Angeles, California during the Great Depression. She began her career by reading commercials for the radio in 1939 when she was seventeen years old. Betty White then started acting in television shows and movies. Since then, she has won several awards and continues to act. Betty White’s autobiography, If You Ask Me: (And of Course You Won’t), reveals an actress 's life from her perspective. Betty White’s long life and long career have made it possible to provide inspiration to everyone in the acting world and in the real world.

Lizzie Borden was born on July 19 of 1860 to Andrew Jackson Borden and Sarah Anthony Borden. Lizzie’s biological mother, Sarah, died of uterine congestion and spinal disease in 1863. Following Sarah’s death, Lizzie’s father married Abby Durfee Gray, who became Lizzie and Emma Borden’s stepmother. Twenty people died in Salem, Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. In this day in age witchcraft was forbidden. If anybody was accused of witchcraft and the court decided they were guilty they were instantly executed. The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecution of people accused of witchcraft. Fourteen women, the rest men, died all by hanging, expect one. A group of young girls in the town claimed the devil tried to possess them. They then accused local women and men in the town of Salem of witchcraft. The character in The Crucible who was the most guilty for the events that transpired was Abigail Williams because of her sin of lechery that led to jealousy and damaged pride, her choice to lie rather than taking responsibility, and for judging good people as being hypocritical that had to be dealt with. As a result of Abigail’s lechery with John Proctor, she felt jealous towards Elizabeth Proctor and judged by the other townspeople. Her jealousy and pride made people targets during the witch trials. Mary Bryant a mother, wife and a convict on the first fleet to Australia. Mary Bryant was a well-known convict of Australia during the 17-1800’s. Mary Bryant had many failures, successes and important events that happened during her life. She has no specific birth date, but was baptized on the 1st of May, 1765 Fowey, Cornwall and was a daughter of a mariner named Broad who’s family was ‘eminent for sheep stealing’. As you can see by the last sentence she was born into a family of criminals from robbery to assault.

There were tensions between whites and blacks throughout the country in the 1960’s. There were race riots in many states; but it was uncommon for there to be race riots in a city as little as York, Pa. In 1969, a black, unarmed woman named Lillie Belle Allen got shot in her chest by white gang members while coming home from shopping with her sister. It took 32 years before she and her family received justice and the culprits that shot her received their charges; that is why her death should be commemorated.
