Agatha Christie is well-known globally for her crime fiction novels consisting of “Murder on the Orient Express”, “Death of the Nile”, and “And then there were none” which is a physiological thriller about 10 guests at an island, whom all receive punishment/revenge for actions committed earlier in their lives.

An antagonist is a person who opposes an opinion, usually the protagonist’s opinion. This creates conflict which drives the storyline. Leading to suspense, uncertainty, ambiguity and unknown motives. Although not all conflict is bad in crime fiction you generally need an opposing side to bring tension and confusion to the story.

And then there were none is an English crime based fictional novel. It consisted of a protagonist, a crime, an antagonist and a complex plot which provides clues and hints to each character’s motives. And then there were none and Lamb to the slaughter both fictionalise motive, crime, betrayal and justice. In Lamb to the slaughter Patrick Maloney attempted to divorce his 6month pregnant wife, so betraying, this lead to Mary Maloney having a motive to kill her husband and bring justice for his betrayal which was a crime. …show more content…

You can understand how it is a physiological thriller and although there are 10 murders it is not gruesome as the author on briefly describe in which the way they died.
