The typical problems for a fifteen year is figuring out what career they want to pursue or what college they want to go, not wondering if today is going to be the day they die in a gas chamber or wondering if their family members are still alive. When Adolf Hitler became the Fuhrer the lives of many Jews, including the Franks, were changed. Anne and her family decided to move and their new home was an apartment on the Merwedeplein in Amsterdam. Anne made numerous friends with the other Jewish families that had also fled Germany to escape Hitler’s power. All around them were horrible slogans about Jews which were scrawled on the windows of Jewish owned stores along with stories of punishments and beatings in the streets. Once in the middle of the night she had a nightmare about getting taken by the nazi’s and woke up everyone in the house. But like I said in the second paragraph she made gifts on the first night of Hanukkah because she believes that it would not be a Hanukkah without gifts. She hand-made the gifts so that people could get some.
