Frederick was born 1818 Talbolt Maryland into slavery life, but he never new when so he decided to say also celebrate it in February. He never lived with his mother name Harriet Bailey as of his dad he never saw a day in his life or talk about him. Frederick grew up in slavery without his real family. Slavery wasn't as bad as the south was during slavery while he live with his owner . It was very much unfair because he had to work at a young age and he fought for his rights of being African American and having freedom . He had only one brother, but not much detail was explained about him. Frederick douglass wrote several autobiographies about his life. He became well known in the world when his books sold out in many stores. About twelve years old Hugh Auld’s wife taught Frederick how to say his alphabet , during this time of year they didn’t have no school everything they had to learn on their own or just not know it at all. When he had nobody to teach him anything he secretly started doing it on his own teaching himself how to read and write. He then started reading books, magazines, newspapers to help him get a better understanding about what was going on throughout slavery. Douglass will get beat and one day when his owner tried to beat him Frederick fought back and won , he never touch Frederick again. He was a worker that got mistreated by owners however getting beat and hit with a belt. It was extremely bad that he tried escaping and start to work on shiploads. He was a major figure during the Civil War. He wanted to end this war for freedom with black people. His hair was characterized as a lion in the jungle while he talk he had a rich tone voice. He was very striking of his appearance 6 ft 2 in, he was a slave who free himself. Douglass aunt was a slave and his owner beat her because he disobeyed his rules.They sung songs to keep them occupied while doing work , they felt like they had to work so the white people can do better things. The first book Frederick read was the Columbian Orator he read it memorize it and read over and over again he practice speaking famous speeches while reading it. In Baltimore, frederick founds a community with blacks , mentor, religious and friends. He later found Anna Marie she was quite, supportive African American women she was very supportive with Douglass that’s why he liked her so much.
