Benjamin Franklin Through his efforts to influence and inspire the world, Benjamin Franklin led America to reach new heights that would eventually make it the strongest nation known to man. As one of the most involved men in the United States during his time, he managed to transform America and change it into the country its citizens love today. There are many ways that Franklin provoked the lives of the American people during his life. Even after his death, the whole nation carried on its motivation that was sparked by Benjamin Franklin.

Benjamin Franklin is best known as one of the founding fathers of the United States. He is also well known as a scientist, politician, activist, inventor, and author. His literary career began in his apprenticeship to his older brother, James, the editor of The New England Courant when he was 12 years old. His style of writing was greatly influenced by the English periodical, The Spectator, which was widely read and popular at the time. He contributed letters and essays to the Courant under various pseudonyms.

At the start of the 18th century, the beginning of the Enlightenment was upon America. There were many factors and people who help play a part in the Enlightenment or, in other words, the Age of Reason, some of the people that assisted the enlightenment was Thomas Jefferson, John Locke, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adam. Each of the philosophers demonstrates the fundamental idea of the Enlightenment like liberalism, rationalism, conservatism, toleration and scientific progress. Even though each person played an important part, the most influences person that was involved was Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin and His 13 Virtues In part II of Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography, he lists the 13 virtues every man should follow to establish a modeled “habitude” that would better life for all men of the time period. Although not all men of the 1780s were perfect examples of these virtues, these virtues are what the “old lights” strived to be. The virtues “occurred to [Franklin] as necessary or desirable” (Franklin, 428). The success of the nation was reliant on heading towards a similar goal - a goal to be a well-respected example for the nation.

Each founding father has their own story about what they accomplished in their lives along with their personal lives that some may not know about. Benjamin Franklin had both, where people did not know his personal life along with him having many accomplishments. Benjamin Franklin has many talents, well jobs, like being an inventor, scientist, writer, and much more. Franklin had many hardships along with his great successes. Some of his “hardships” contained childhood, family, and work.

Benjamin Franklin was born January 12, 1706 in Boston, Massachusettes. He grew up in Boston but spent the majority of his life in Philadelphia after running away from home at 17. Before his death on April 17, 1790 he had made many contributions to society, including typography. Although his vocation in life was a diplomat, scientist, inventor and writer, he only ever identified himself as a printer. Originally, Ben Franklin was an apprentice to his brother James at the age of 12.

At age 10 he quit school so he could start working full time at his father’s candle and soap shop. Dipping wax and cutting wicks didn’t suit his needs. At age 12 his father apprenticed him to his brother James at a print shop.

I think that Ben Franklin's intentions for moral perfection are accurate. Being held to such a high standard will make ultimately make you a better human being. Some of these standards are just impossible to achieve. I personally think that virtue number 6 industry, does not have to be achieved to be perfect. Someone can be perfect and still have time to rest.
