Benjamin Franklin is known for many things. Franklin was one of the so called leading fathers of our country. He was a scientist, inventor, politician and orator. One of his early achievements was that of a writer and publisher. It was Franklin’s writings that he was probably least known for.
Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17th 1706 in Boston Massachusetts. At an early age Benjamin learned to read and could be considered and major accomplishment. At age 10 he quit school so he could start working full time at his father’s candle and soap shop. Dipping wax and cutting wicks didn’t suit his needs. At age 12 his father apprenticed him to his brother James at a print shop.
Benjamin went on to accomplished many positive things for the American people. He was a major political figure, an inventor and a scientist. Franklin was also a worker,and philosopher. He served as a civic activist, a statesman, and a senior diplomat. He is regarded as a major American figure due to his scientific abilities.

He was elected the first president of the American Philosophical Society, the first scholarly associations in the United States, in 1769, and many times, wrote petitions to the government to end the practice of slavery in 1790, though this was ended only after the Emancipation Proclamation of Abraham Lincoln. By the belief of his affection to the world through his actions, he had done all. Ultimately, Benjamin Franklin always strove for greatness and certainly was a model that we can learn from it. With the revolutionary war on the horizon it was critical that the colonists unite to fight for their independence.

Even though Benjamin Franklin had a job and little time to learn, he was able to understand Newton's theories of physics as a teenager; his showcased his brightness and natural intelligence.
When Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography was published in the 18th century, it reflected Franklin’s uncommon and advanced mindset at that time, considering the fact that at that time, humans could be hanged for doubting the Revelation. In his Autobiography, Franklin expresses skepticism toward religion and explains why he does not commit himself to one particular faith. However, Franklin respects the freedom of religion and highly promotes moral and virtuous behavior. Franklin discusses his reflections on religion and the distinction between organized religions and beliefs that are not bound to religious systems. He emphasizes that organized religion and sects are more focused on following specific rules and practices, than concentrating on really understanding God and His ideas of humility, moral behavior and virtue.
Founding Fathers of any nation are important and beneficial to developing their nation. Each Founding Father plays an important role in the development of the nation such as signing documents and developing their laws. The United States includes seven Founding Fathers and each are important to American society. However, the Founding Father that stands out the most is Benjamin Franklin due to his ubiquitous presence at all key signings of documents to founding the United States of America. When Benjamin Franklin lived as a child he grew in Boston, Massachusetts in the 13 colonies, he was under control of the British and could do nothing about the situation (Honderich 728-30).
