The theme power and corruption is explored in both ‘Hamlet’ and ‘The Lion King’. It is demonstrated that power can be used for the wrong reasons, and it results in families being torn apart. In Disney’s ‘The Lion King’, Scar the antagonist was denied from being king at birth, and therefore allowed the greed for power to override his personality. Jealousy was shown when Scar used Simba to cover up his murder of the king.

It is a elaborate and full story with sympathetic and abhorrent characters the audience can understand all too well. It entails elements of betrayal, loyalty and inaction. The Lion King is a Disney movie with general plot of Hamlet where, a king is murdered for his throne. While the Lion King has some character and plot resemblances, its differences is what marks the gap between a children's movie to a richly told story.

One of the figures who best represents values of the Anglo-Saxon world is Beowulf; however, many villains can disregard these social values. In The Lion King, Scar, the brother of Mufasa and uncle of Simba, is a villain and antagonist who embodies less desirable traits than those reflected by a modern hero.
Betrayal and loyalty is a huge concept that most of us have heard about. We see this concepts used in famous movies, plays, readings, and even songs. It is a term that most of us are familiar with. For example, a famous betrayal and loyalty movie would be “The Lion King” where Scar kills Mufasa. In comparison, Shakespeare's Macbeth and Bob Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street” show the same concepts, but in two different ways.
Redemption, is the action, regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing debt. In William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, redemption is a common focus for the protagonist Hamlet, followed by Old King Fortinbras’ son, Fortinbras, and Laertes. These ambitious men embark on a quest for truth and redemption because of the loss of their father’s. In spite of the fluctuations in their quest, their journey for truth and redemption is successful because Fortinbras, Laertes and Hamlet all avenge their fathers’ deaths. Through Active Reversal, Fortinbras’ quest was successful, by Laertes’ Fear of Betrayal his quest to kill Hamlet was successful.
The moral background within the story of Hamlet and The Lion KIng are similar consisting that their plots also correspond. In every situation whether it be in Hamlet or The Lion KIng all the actors or cast members displayed an act of portraying a personality not seen at first glance. Which can be similar corresponding to “real” life that most people aren't who they appear to be. For example The King’s brother or Simba’s uncle took on this role of being responsible, caring, and a very big role model in the kingdom but in turn his real role in society was to play this manipulative, and inconsiderate being. The common people; however, followed the role he displayed not the role that made him who he was.
It is no secret that the mothers mentioned in the story Hamlet by Shakespeare and the Disney movie The Lion King are not the most important characters. However, these women have an important yet subtle influence on the plot and their sons. They give love to their offspring, whether unconditionally or occasionally. Queen Gertrude and Queen Sarabi have very blatant similarities, like their reigning status and their sons, but they also have strong differences, like how they react in unfavorable situations, and how they take care of their responsibilities.
When betrayed, one usually has negative emotions towards the people who have betrayed them. They both are about a royal family and the betrayal of the King 's death by their brother. It also holds in common the son and how he seeks revenge upon his father’s death. Sharing another’s personal information to others is an act of betrayal that can have many different outcomes. In fact, all acts of betrayal have different outcomes based on the victim of the betrayal, and often times that victim can turn out to be yourself. Acts of betrayal are often done out of selfishness, jealousy, or even revenge to make one feel superior than the other. Many times acts of betrayal can be nonintentional because you may be in a state of mind where your feelings are getting the best of you and are not able to think straight. Whether or not the act of betrayal was intended, the victim of betrayal will react the same if it was intended or not because the action will still affect the victim in the same way.
Compare and Contrast Lion King and Hamlet After reading the book hamlet and watching the movie Lion King I discovered there were many similarities and differences. Both come from royalty and both fathers are killed by thier uncles that reaper as ghost with helpful advice, although in hamlet the uncle gets the Queen in lion king the uncle does not, hamlet is a tragedy but lion king was a happy ending. First off. Hamlet is the prince of denmark and the son of the tragically murdered King Hamlet. Simba is the son of Mufasa the king of the lions.
“Run away Simba… run… run away and never return.” As many know this is one of the most iconic lines spoken by Scar in Disney's Lion King; and it sums up Scar's betrayal of his own family perfectly. Betrayal is a very common action many characters develope–in all forms of entertainment. Creators do this not just to push the plot forward but to develop a character–more often than not a villain–who they want the audience or reader to garner distrusting disgust towards. Shakespeare, being one of the greatest playwrights of all time, it makes perfect sense he would include themes of betrayal in his work; Lago is betrayal reincarnated.
