Since its beginning, the United States of America has gradually and steadily expanded the oversight and power of its own federal government. This expansion has resulted in a plethora of effects on the relationship between local state government and the federal government, both negative and positive. However, the increased impingement from the federal government onto the constitutional rights of local and state governments has created an imbalance. A major part of this imbalance has stemmed from the advent and imposition of unfunded federal mandates. This increasing implementation of unfunded federal mandates over the years has begun to stir up trouble between the states and the federal government.

Due to the significance of a president’s leadership, it is no surprise that he/she must possess high expertise and work integrity. Yet, with the loose prerequisites tied to presidential eligibility, many citizens are worried that the selected candidate will not inhibit those qualities. In settings of community practice and organizing, organizers and leaders must consistently reassess the effectiveness of their outreach and goals they strive to succeed. For example, in regards to youth education and empowerment, various models have been accepted as the benchmark, but each, in their own way have failed to fulfill the expectations and goals they intended to reach. On another note, community organizers and leaders may fail to provide an equitable platform for the community members by failing to emphasize intersectionality. 1. I believe the best illustration of tension between local culture and globalisation in Samir’s story is his account of the Medicine Man, Don Candido of the BriBri tribe in Costa Rica. Samir details how he had found two parasites in his arm after his stay in Costa Rica and had to endure a 3 and a half week ordeal of toxic daily shots in the US in order to save his life. Samir kept thinking there must be a better solution to this problem and upon his next visit to Costa Rica, the medicine man, Don Candido, revealed that he knew a very simple treatment that would only last for 3 days and would be gentler on the body.

Community Responsibility & Engagement Community development is about helping people to improve the quality of their lives. It refers to communities and public organizations working together to achieve social justice and bring about change by identifying and meeting the community’s needs. Neighborhood organizations, councils, and HOAs can assist in engaging citizens to maintain a balance of community and neighborhood goals and interests. However, residents should work among themselves to increase citizen involvement. Local governments are unaware of many community issues and cannot solve problems alone.

The Idea of Community in Speaker for the Dead Speaker for the dead is a science fiction novel that tries to view some concepts in our society that we have hard time defining them or we never thought of defining them. The writer also tries to view these issues from different angles and perspectives that is strange to our conventional minds and costumes. Orson Scott Card in his novel Speaker for the Dead puts forward some issues that we encounter in our modern day. One of the most obvious ideas that he puts under the scope is the concept of community in various versions and forms. He also tries to redefine our relationships with the communities that we belong or not belong to.

Should the government play a key role in aiding the uninsured, or should market forces reign supreme? I believe the government needs to play a key role in aiding the uninsured. Our country's core value is “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.” I believe healthcare is applied to this core value with governments helping insure United States citizens.
