Lets first talk about both countries gaining their independence. In 1849, France began to take over Guinea, a country located in western Africa in 1849. Before then, they country were being ruled by the Muslims. Alongside, other European countries such as the Portuguese people, and British also began to take over other African countries such as Liberia, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, etc. At this point, all the African countries were being taken over by the three European countries. In order to get away from Great Britain and gain their independence, they decided to declare war against them which is known as the Revolutionary War. The war lasted for eight long years. America weren 't giving up on their chance to gain independence, so they did what they had to do. Thomas Jefferson wrote the famous Declaration of Independence on June 11, 1776 while the war was taking place, also asking for Independence from Great Britain. Finally on July 4, 1776, the United States of America officially gained there independence. That day is know know as the 4th of July which is of course a national holiday. Millions of Americans across the world celebrate that special day everyday by wearing the countries colors and also throwing parties such as cook outs. That is in fact another similarity, both countries in fact celebrate their countries by throwing parties and spending time with their friends and families so they won 't have to think about the horrid things their country had to experience and go through while another country was in power of there very own
