The American Revolution or Revolutionary War, was a battle fought between the years of 1775-1783. In this battle, Great Britain and the original thirteen colonies of America, fought for America’s independence. From this war, America was able to separate itself from Great Britain and claim its independence, making America a free country.
The First Continental Congress happened during the period of September 5, 1774 to October 26, 1774. This marked the first time that the all of the colonies, except Georgia, were together. The purpose of this meeting was to address the issues they had with Britain. Specifically, they discussed the situation of the Intolerable Acts that the British Parliament enforced on Boston due to the incident of the Boston Tea Party. One of the results of this First Continental Congress was the delegates explained to King George III that there were issues with how the colonies were being treated. The delegates told King George III that if he didn’t put an end to the Intolerable Acts,
In 1776 the founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence stating the separation of the American colonies from Britain. The Declaration states traditional American values that were meant to define America forever. However, in the 1800’s some of these traditional principles, to an extent, were being reformed with new values and ideologies, such as Abolitionism, Feminism, Public Education, Prison Rehabilitation, Utopianism, and Nativism. Overall, the reforms of the Antebellum Period were consistent with original American principles of democracy, equality, and reform.

The colonies wanted independence and free from British rule. In order to gain their independence the colonies had to fight for it. There were many events leading up to the revolutionary war but the Stamp Act and Sugar Act had its impact. These two acts are a part of what got the conflict started between Great Britain and America; The Sugar Act, was a law that imposed taxes on certain imports and the Stamp Act, is a law that levied new excise taxes. The colonist posed such strong opposition against the taxes the British government were implemented that it was
The United States won its independence for Great Britain during the Revolutionary War. America struggled to get the advantage, but eventually was able to win the war. In the beginning it proved difficult to even acquire the troops necessary to fight a war. The troops they got had no adeptness for fighting. They struggled throughout the war and at times their chances for success looked bleak. However, even with the odds against them they prevailed.
After nearly one-hundred and fifty years of living in the New World, the colonists were anxious to be separated from their mothering country, England. Thomas Jefferson and other colonists got together to write an official document called the Declaration of Independence in July of 1776 to send to King George III. This document stated how the colonists were being treated unjustly and how independence should be granted to the citizens. The Declaration of Independence promises natural rights for all men, however, some rights such as suffrage, are not realized for some disenfranchised groups.
It seems that the time of cutting specific things out of my life has come around, certain reasons have gave me reason to believe that it is a need not a want, and this is not a plea but a declaration. I want to cut off all friends that destroy dreams by smoking, drinking, and making bad choices in general. There is no benefit or good reason to keep them around if they’re just going to hold me back. In that case I’d also like to declare that I will be leaving my neighborhood. So I can get away from all those friends but also just take away the risk of being in trouble or being killed.
Before Britain became the dictatorial power clouding any American effort to speak up, they were involved in a series of four wars. The last of them, the French and Indian War, occurred on American soil and the British victory handed England a pile of debt and a huge land dispute between the Indians residing in the territory the British gained through the Treaty of Paris and the colonists eager for new land. This started the ferocious turmoil between Britain and the American colonies. From the end of the French and Indian War in 1763 to the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, British antagonistic policies only added gasoline to America’s resentment of British rule, and sparked their unity and dedication to colonial republican values.
In the late 1770s the Thirteen Colonies of Britain wanted to separate and form their own nation. On July 4, 1776 they signed a declaration this was the Declaration of Independence declaring these colonies a new independent nation. When the shot was fired at Lexington it was heard around the world which started the American Revolution. Although some critics argue that the revolution had meager affects, the war actually revolutionized The United States of America which is evident by the greater equality for the social classes, the increase in equality for the minorities, and the creation of a republic.
In 1783, the Treaty of Paris was signed, granting America its independence. Eight years prior, the American Revolutionary War began and many reasons can be offered as to why it began. The war began in 1775 because of the Shot Heard ‘Round the World. Leading up to the war, Britain employed many taxes on the colonists to pay for the debt the French and Indian War brought. The taxes were outrageous and the colonists responded poorly. The American Revolution was a product of British taxation on the colonists. First, the colonists were very upset with Britain after they passed the Stamp Act. Second, the colonists didn’t react well to the Townshend Act which the British enforced on the colonists. Last, the Tea Party is a good example for the colonists
The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia on July 4,1776. Was the motivation for writing the Declaration of Independence ideological and therefore for everyone or was it written for selfish reasons and therefore only for the rich and powerful? The debate about this event is whether the Declaration of Independence was written or ideological or selfish reasons. Historians think it’s written for selfish reasons because upper class colonists tried to persuade the lower class to join revolutionary cause . Historians think it was written for ideological reasons because the Declaration of Independence gave people the freedom of religion, speech, etc. The Declaration of Independence was written for ideological reasons.
At the Battle at Lexington, the first first stand off between the British and the Americans took place. This was a significant part of the Revolutionary War because this was the first battle of the revolution and the location where the first shot was fired. The origin of that shot was unknown, but it was the reason the revolution began. At the Battle at Concord, British soldiers stormed the city and destroyed military supplies. On their way home, they were ambushed by by many American militias, which lead to the British losing around 250 men.
On October 30th I Camry McDougald am declaring my independence against my peers. For years I have been picked at, dissected, and recreated over, and over by my peers. They have covered up my originality and tried to make me into someone who I simply am not. I’m tired of this verbal abuse and twisted acts of unwanted persuasion. I want my peers to know that I’ll no longer accept them trying to hide who I am.
The Declaration of Independence was first drafted in June of 1776. It took only one month for the document to be refined and was approved by congress on July 4th of 1776. Although it took an additional month for the document to be signed, it didn’t take as long for contentions to arise. This was primarily due to the fact that the Declaration of Independence didn’t address slavery. Why though, was this the case?
