These battles were crucial turning points in the war and had a significant impact on the outcome of the conflict. The Battle of Gettysburg was fought from July 1 to July 3, 1863, in Pennsylvania. It was the largest battle of the Civil War and resulted in a Union victory. The Confederate army, led by General Robert E. Lee, had advanced into the North, hoping to take the war to Union soil.
